2.0TSI stage 1 vs . . . .

Featured Replies

Yeah mine is the TFSI. I don't know about a standing start but once on the move it definately gave the M3 a run for it's money to the point the driver got desperate that he couldn't get away from a Skoda.

Stage 2 on a TSI should be equivalent to a stage 2+ on the TFSI because the + was for uprated fuel pumps that the TSI doesn't need.

What does tfsi at stage 2 and 2+ put out?

What does tfsi at stage 2 and 2+ put out?

The figures can vary, but anywhere between 260 - 280 bhp.

The IHI turbo is smaller so less lag, iirc it is a stronger unit also.

Has anyone had a play with focus ST's ? Either standard or remapped and how does the TSi compare in both guises?

Ive had mapped Focus ST and mapped vRS. I loved the ST but sold it after 6 months. I kept the vRS for 3 years. B I know my stage 2+ vRS had no issue keeping with stage 2 VXR and STs with 290hp. Mine was around 275-280hp.

From what ive seen the tsi is even stronger through the rev range. Cracking motor once mapped with none of the weak fueling issues of the tfsi

Am I right in thinking the OE fuel bump can run at a far higher pressure, 120 bar on the Tfsi, 150 bar on the Tsi?

Mine killed an ST and could stay with an RS. Mine revo stage 1, both of those were standard I assume. Apparently those RS's don't put out 300 horses, most around 290, which makes the power to weight ratio similar to a vRS tsi at stage 1.

Not sure how my P-Torque map compares to Shark / Revo but I had a little fun with a Boxter which tried to pass but ended up going backwards. 30-70 when I backed off he was edging backwards.

So satisfying!

Without realising I tried to outpace a Carrera 4, only until I saw the 4 piped beast pass me I knew how unevenly matched we were

Comparing focus ST stage 2 to a tsi stage 2 both from revo produced graphs ( you can ignore peak figures, tbh as they both made much more power stock than they normally do. I bet if you subtract 15-20hp off the peak on both you'l have realistic figures

Focus ST

Bear in mind 450nm = 331lbft

TSI makes more power in the midrange and holds it for longer making a much more flexible power band. ST has huge torque early on which is crap for traction,

Thx Janner, those graphs are certainly eye opening didn't think it would be as close as that and I agree the flat curve in the mid range looks good !

As with all revo quoted figures, you deduct 15hp minimum to work out what to expect, but curves are curves, they dont change.

Reading redline this month, they have a really big artical on revos new ford ST software and rate it very vety highly compared to other ford software

Yeah, the reason I am asking is my bro has an ST (over 10 hrs younger lol) so his mouth runs faster than his car, whereas mine is a family car. I will show him the graphs etc just to hopefully show him how close the cars are

To be honest I never come across ST drivers that push them hard. It's normally boy racers trying to race me, don't know why as most of them have pathetic cars with a stupid loud exhaust. Clearly no contest! Do they just want to see the car shift??

Join the club mate, I had a pair of muppets trying it on down a duel carriage near me, they were in a Peugeot 106 of some description. They overtook, then pulled in and slowed right down to force me to overtake them - this is when I chuckled at the sight of quad 4" exhausts. Well not wanting to disappoint I slowly pulled out, then buried the loud pedal.........their faces were actually funnier than the exhausts!!

Quad 4" amazing!

Eh? Stock BHP close to 250!? I thought a stock Mk6 was 208bhp?

Maybe minus 40bhp from revos quotes!

Is that the one with a £67,000 base price? Yes he should be able to inch past . . .

Yes that's the one. Lovely car, very pricey!

Have you never wondered why revo always quote such high figures. They use dynos which exagerate figures as you can see with the stock figures on that graph. What matters is the gains between before and after in this case a 50hp gain. You also need to bear in mind was the dyno run for stage 2 ran with full turbo back exhaust, intake and intercooler and did they have all that fitted when they ran it stock.

I personnaly think all tuners should quote gains and not peak figures

I agree about posting gains rather than peak figures, which can be misleading.

With revo I've always found the on road performance far more important that pub talk figures. At the end of the day it's how it drives that matters
