Are they really as good as they sound? Do you not move at all with them

Even the now china made ones

Yes they are

I've used mine on 4 types of car seat now, from commercial van to big bolster sports seats, works on all of them.

Changed manufacturer due to quality concerns, hence long delays in stock.

Yes they are worth it, used mine on a couple of handling days and twice at the Ring and it was a great help. You can go round hairpins a lot quicker without worrying about smashing yourself against the side of the car!

The only two complaints I had were:

They're quite heavy so if you leave them hanging attached to the seatbelt all the time you'll wear out the seatbelt retractor quicker.

They don't give a straight answer on their website as to whether or not they're insurance friendly. I never told the insurance about mine (naughty naughty) then was considering claiming on the insurance for my damaged bonnet back in 2009 and was getting paranoid the assessor would notice it so I ended up taking it off and sold it to another member. If the insurance companies would give them the thumbs up then I'd be happy to wear one all the time not just on trackdays etc.

To put your concern another why, have you actually been told (by an insurance company) that a CG-Lock constitutes a modification, so must be declared ?

I've had two MOT recently, different places, presence of CG-Locks not even mentioned.

I may have to get a couple, i get ****e days where back plays up too so hoping may help

And a 2nd to help keep lil un fixed in her maxi cosi ferofix abit tighter :D

The CG-Lock website FAQ says:

Will using CG-Lock affect my insurance rates?

The CG-Lock is not a safety device. The CG-Lock has been rigorously tested. Professional analysis of the test data showed there was no reduction (impairment or inhibition) of seatbelt performance when a CG-Lock was installed.[/Quote]

So they've evaded the question...will it affect my insurance, yes or no?

I imagine if you phone your insurer and start mentioning you've fitted something to the seatbelts they'll have kittens.

But the flip side of the coin is I haven't managed to find any threads or pages on Google where people have reported insurance problems with the CG-Locks and they have helped plenty of people survive crashes so obviously the insurers know about those and haven't quibbled about it.

Just ordered a couple for my vrs

Im trying to find some bits to sell lol i shall then recycle funds to clips :D

So they've evaded the question...

They do somewhat. They seem to be aiming for the angle, if no function has been altered, no modification has been made. Therefore no need to inform/impact insurance.

I suppose as an analogy would be fitting braided brake lines, doesn't change the basic operation of the brakes, would you tell the insurnace company ?

As you state, nothing on the internet about folks having insurance claims rejected.

TBH I'm sticking with my policy of not informing insurance companies.

Yeah at the end of the day it's up to you guys, bit like taking my car on the Ring, I just get a bit paranoid and scared about the whole insurance angle LOL

I was nice and told HIC everything

And in return i got ..... Well shall we just dealt with sexually without my concent :(

My bank will never be the same again, im sure vei caught my bank card in the shower rocking and crying at times since

Its ****e.... All the people i know that do things and say nothing, and im honest and getting absolutly ****** for it :(

Anyone that ordered these and is still waiting? Read a number of posts saying they'd had quick delivery. Mines been over a week now and was meant to be 1st class. I wonder if they're out of stock again!

Had a reply:

Hi Josh!

Thanks for your email.  Apologies for the delay.  We are changing over logistics companies and so there have been a few delays.  We have your order ready to go out so please bear with us.

Thanks for your understanding!

... And thanks for your custom... Much appreciated!

Kind Regards

Graham

I thought they use royal mail? So I guess it's a supply issue really? Just looking forward to receiving it!

Think someone said they are made in China now probably waiting for a shipment?

I really like mine and feel naked without it! Been using it for about a year now.
