Yeti profiteering

Featured Replies

I was in my local dealer today to have my Fabia VRS serviced.100k. Sadly the list of repairs needed this time and the last time made me wonder about the quality of VAG engineering and whether it is actually better than the French Italian Anglo_American norm. New steering rack £960. Total bill £1500. Last time was £1000 including air con condenser, water pump and crank angle sensor. My Fiat Doblo MPV did 120k for only a new exhaust and a battery

Anyway, biting the bullet I enquired about a new Yeti. Best delivery was Jan 2012. Probably later in reality. The salesman then informed me that they could get a 2.0 2WD S with 3k miles, stock in red for £17K. Looked good until I realised that this second hand car was more expensive than a new one. Supply and demand I was informed.

I left. I have now traded in my beloved VRS for a Suzuki Swift GTi and my Octavia Estate Greenline will follow soon, probably for a new Doblo.

Suzuki is now part of the VAG Group.. :)

Blimey are they? I know they were working together on small car projects, something to do with the Indian market I think, but thought they sort of exchanged shares in one another. So the've taken control now?

VAG own 20% of Suzuki looking to increase that by 10% per year..welcome back wobblyone

Looks like the VAG ambition of global dominance in motor manufactoring is well on course

Not a bad thing I suppose if they can raise the quality in a similar vein to Skoda and Seat!

Think of it from the other way round.

Strong residuals! =

£960 for a rack?! :o Replaced mine for about £250 including labour!

I think the current range of Suzuki vehicles are already very impressive. The VAG Group are very clever and have great foresight... :)

This is an impressive looking car for Suzuki which produces small cars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Kizashi

Shame, they don't sell it in the UK, if its priced similar to Hyundai and Kia then I don't see it not selling.

Kizashi.jpg?dl=1 You beat me to it....

Residuals are strong until you go in to the dealer to part ex. then it's oh dear, wrong colour or not a popular engine or trim or the sun isn't shining today... etc. lol

Change dealer. There have been a few folk on here who have part ex'd their SM for a new one and not lost very much money. - £1000 in a year for example one person mentioned.

Talk to James at Allams...........

As I understand it at the moment there is no wrong colour, no wrong spec or engine. Just a lack of all of them emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Just having my usual pop at dealers in general - don't spoil my fun. :giggle:

We aren't all bad.... :'(

I realise that James and some day you could get the call so I should keep on your good side.

Now thats what I call a brave P Ex, An Octavia Greenline (Skoda - 8th out of 32 in the What Car 2010 Reliability Survey) for a Doblo (Fiat - 21st and Alfa 31st).
