EGR Problems

Featured Replies

So looks like my EGR has failed, its showing on VCDS as staying at 100% open all the time, car in limp mode

Can clear the fault and sometimes it wont come back on while idling but once the throttle is touched, bing up it comes again

took the egr off but it didnt look very dirty so maybe its just knackered?

How many have changed em and at what mileage?

does it sound like the egr valve is gone?

its a 2.0 CR engine

Just out of warranty since march :swear: :swear: :swear:

Thanks

PS starting to wonder if i should have stuck with a french car, this one so far in just over a year has had more issues that i had in the previous 12 with 6 odd french cars.

On mine i have had the Air intake valve (throttle body? under the EGR) and the exaust pressure sensor go both done under warranty

and last week had to replace the EGR but not under warranty anymore, but apart from that happy days

  • Rattle from dash on overrun - still not resolved despite numerous attempts
  • Rattle from centre console traced to screw in aircon duct @ 5K
  • DPF failed - isides fell to pieces by the sound of it @15K
  • Throttle body oil seal went leaking oil into the wiring loom @ 17K
  • Boost pipe blew off @ 18K
  • Just started to have engine "slop" when backing off/getting back on throttle - possile garbox mount? @ 23K (just in warranty)
  • Rattle from dash on overrun - still not resolved despite numerous attempts
  • Also clutch judder on damp mornings..................

My 5yr old Fiat Punto Multijet had one failure - EGR valve at 65K. My partners Fiat Cinqucento had a dodgy central locking solenoid and a leaking fuel tank in 40K.

Go figure.

Personally I think the reliability is poor and this will be my last Skoda.

There i was thinking the cr engine was much better, i have the last of the pd units (2.0 140) and at 40k in its first year, not had any issue's with it, well unless you count the backache it give's me on long journey's.

The EGR electric or vacumm.

vacumm you can always flange the thing on the recirculation line.

Reset the fault and never more because the gases will not recirculate.

Many people have done it, I have done on my Renault 1.9dci.

My dad did on his passat 110cv, friend on his fabia 1.4tdi, audi A2 1.4tdi, etc
