Suspension upgrades - Ibiza Cupra shocks and springs?

Featured Replies

I have a VRS with a RARB and I was thinking I want to lower and increase the steering responsiveness a bit

I do not want to change the wheels.

I was thinking of-

a) get some 30mm lowering springs - if anyone has any please do offer

B) putting Cupra R shocks and spring on because I am impressed with my mates Ibiza FR

c) get some Koni FSD's or alike with springs - again let me know

Is the Ibiza idea crazy, because they do run lower, I thought it might be quite a good stock mod?

Thanks

Alex

I've always thought about getting a second hand set of springs/dampers from a cupra when and if my originals fail. Another option could be a polo gti. However I've never driven either so not sure what it'll be like. Only issue could be the front spring rates as the vRS normall has ones rated for 960KG. But saying that the eibach springs for the vRS and Polo gti are the same.

If you do remember to get the bump stops as well. Thier alot shorter.

Polo gti is a 1.8t 5 speed so not much use, but cupra tdi setup could be useable

Eibachs kill the stock vRS shocks because they run them lower and there fore under more permanent pressure at rest.

Wonder if Eibachs and Cupra TDi shocks would make a longer lasting combination? Hmmmmmmmm..... his is an interesting subject you've raised.

I think cupra r shocks from a diesel would be better because they are stiffer no?

I wasnt aware that a "cupra r" was made, just a FR & Cupra

they did a mk3 Cupra R, but it was a 1.8T

That'd be the wrong fitment tho wouldn't it?! (can you tell I'm not a Ibiza man? Lol)

Eibach use the same front and rear springs for the fabia vrs and polo gti 1.8t.

If your thinking of the cupra tdi and cupra 1.8t. I'm not sure but i think they use the same setup. Will have to double check.

Im not sure how dampers work but why would they be under more pressure? Is it because they will sit 20mm lower down? But then if you don't cut your bump stops you won't be using any more of the dampers travel would you?
