Mk 5 golf GTI brakes

Featured Replies

I know there 312mm brakes from the Golf MK4 and other cars that share the platform fit but do MK5 ones?

Cheers, Stephen

Not Mk5 brakes on a Fabia, no. Mk5 uses a 5x112 PCD (as does the Octy2, Mk2 Leon, A3 Mk2) whereas the Fabia is 5x100.

So you're looking at other donor cars such as Mk1 Leon, TT Mk1 and the Mk1 S3.

Don't forget the Golf Mk4 and Mk1 Octy vRS

not even if I use some 312mm disc in 5x100 PCD form?

Is it also the design of the caliper mounting bracket that doesnt allow fitment?

Can't comment on that as I don't know anyone who's tried it.

But save yourself a lot of hassle and possible experimentation and just get hold of a setup from a 5x100 based VAG emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I think the 312mm calipers on the golf mk5 setup are the same as the mk4 setup but the carriers are different. A guy bought my old mk5 312mm calipers for his Fabia vRS so I make the assumption that they are the same.

As it stands though, I would keep to a tried and tested platform such as the mk4 at least you know you wont have any problems.

indeed i do believe they are the same calipers just the carriers are different, be cheaper just sourcing a mk4 / octy vrs/s3/tt setup for the price
