You have pm

Hmmmm . . . perhaps you could share your source? ;)

Just been to my nearest TPS today with part nos 1K0 199 231 N (left) 1K0 199 232 N (right) ; and they came up with the bushes at the bottom of the pic i.e. voided bushes :wonder: Man was not a happy bunny either as he had just been searching the warehouse to find these and I then rejected them as I wanted the solid ones. Now I've pee'd off my local TPS I'm probably persona non grata there as he was telling me how they hate non trade people as they never know what they want! And i thought I did! Damn!

I bet the chap picked the wrong part as that does relate to the S3 console. The bush with no console is 8J0 407 183 DE from Audi. Hope that helps?

Can you get this bush seperate? I cannot find it in ETKA.

The standard vRS void bushes are the same part number but with a J instead of the N.

I cant see why not as the part number is stamped into the rubber bush itself. I know Dainott has a friend checking the Audi part list and I am sure it lists the bush itself.

He did, he bought them from the same person I did

I did indeed!

but I had a go at changing them tonight as it looks straight forwards, silly boy, could I hell get the old (very split) consoles off,it was like they were weilded to the wishbone, soaked them in WD40 and then tried everything under the sun, started to get too dark, so had to put everything back together, not happy

Any tips fella's before I take it to the garage?

Cheers

Chris

Using some fairy liquid, squirt it in wishbone shaft and give it a good twist back and forth to get the fairy liquid all around, it should then start to slide out if you pull and twist at the same time

Excellent, I'll have a go again tonight.

Do I need to get re-alignment again?

Ended up taking the car into a garage for these, the d@m bushes needed pressing to get them off the wishbone anyway.

On a good note, how very strange a result from just changing the console bushes, the car has lost that vague/floppy feel, it holds better under load and the understeer is a hell of a lot better.

All in, very happy with that mod  time to get the 345mm Cupra / S3 / R32 front set-up fitted that I have just purchased :giggle:

Good to know, glad it's worked out - will pick some of these up at some point

After a bit of digging it appears that you cant buy the bushes seperate unless the person has pressed them out themselves. I checked with my mate in Audi and only listed the complete housing. Im now buying a pair of almost new ones (off TT and complete with housing so will need pressing out and in) and will end up with three as sourced a spare from a good person on here so if anyone does manage to find a single unit or buy just one then unless i damage one pressing it out then will have a spare to flog.

Good to hear the results are impressive with them fitted

I've put the complete S3 Lower arms along with front & rear console bushes on my new vRS and to be honest i haven't noticed any difference at all.

Maybe it's just me but the car still feels exactly the same to drive. The main reason i put them on was due to fitting R32 brakes to trya nd ofset some of the extra weight (although the S3 arms are only 0.8kg lighter but it all helps i suppose)

I'm not saying anyone is wrong/lying on this. Maybe because my car is only a month old the OEM ones hadn't had chance to wear out yet so that is why there isn't a noticeable differnce. Still it makes the underside of the car look a bit better when on axle stands

I think your last point is spot on.

My view on this is that I might as well fit something better as mine need replacing anyway. As you say, I couldn't be confident that I'd be able to tell the difference against a brand new set of Skoda bushes.

Are these not the same bushes that are replaced by a WALK, for the price of them would it not be worth going WALK and do away with the pressing bushes in/out?

Yea but works out £100 cheaper so worth a try of the TT/S3 bushes first if you ask me

Even new bushes will have loads of movement in them. These bushes really do make the front end more pointy and give a solid feel. Even more so now I have fitted Toyo T1 Sports to the rear. The car really corners well with no sign of understeer, so I am fitting a set of T1 Sports to the front in the next couple of months.

Yes but with the WALK you not only get the stiffer bushes but it modifies the castor angle as well which gives much improved corner exit grip from what I have experienced

Yea agree but I would rather spend the 100 I have saved so far and fit aluminium tt wishbones to drop the front weight and in time then go for the walk kit but to be honest the superpro (think that's the name) have excellent results for about 60 quid less then the walk kit so think il go for them eventually and they give the camber adjustment.

Having had a WALK on my previous vRS i have to disagree. On the road unless you are driving like you stole it everywhere then i really can't see what difference you get. On a track then yeah i could see the point but not on the road. I got more difference from fitting a set of PS3's than the walk and as such will never get one again unless i decide to use the car on the track.

Bit of thread necromancy here, sorry about that.

I got an advisory on my MOT that the front rear bushes are lifting, so I've looked around for some replacements, heard that TT bushes fit and give a better ride.

Found a link on another thread to these:

http://www.ebay.co.u...&prg=1005&rk=1

But they don't look anything like the ones pictured in the first page, also they're named as TT and S£ bushes, not separate as it says in the first page.

Am I looking at the wrong bushes? are there more than one? do I need to find out from the garage exactly which bushes need replacing?

I'm confused...

No, these are not the same.

You won't go far wrong with these if you are after a like for like replacement.

They wont be as rigid as the ones in this thread but then again they wont transmit so much engine/road noise either. For the price you really can't go wrong! You'll need the other side too but you have the link to the site now so you can search for yourself.

I'd rather go for an improvement than a like-for-like replacement. Also it's a diesel, I doubt the extra road noise stiffer bushes will transmit will make much difference :)

You'd be surprised! My wife's Fabia SDi (tractor engine) needed new bushes so I sources some solid ones from Awesome GTI ala Cupra Bushes etc. There was a very noticeable increase in noise especially around 1300rpm. A low deep rumble which is quite unpleasant - so much so that when I drive it I now avoid that rev range and change up later.

The bushes in that link are MK 4 not MK5... however I wonder if the manufacturer makes a bush for the MK 5... hmmmm.

Is it not just worth buying whole new control arms with new front and rear bushes and new tie rod ends?

If the bushes are £45 each and the front bushes are about £10 each for quality items, then you're not far off the £160 for a pair of complete, good quality arms.
