What parts are needed for MFSW in pre FL?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about trying to retro fit a multifunction steering wheel to a 57 reg pre FL VRS, it has maxidot and cruise in case that makes any difference. I know shark have done this to some cars but I'm up in Scotland. Is there a 3 spoke version available? I have seen this one on skodateile but they only have it with DSG paddles so I'm not sure if it is all FL only, they seem to have the wiring looms as well.

If anyone has a part munber for a suitable control module that would be helpful too. My existing one shows in vag com as 1K0 953 549 BC

From what I have read up on it is this the complete shopping list I would need? I'm assuming I can use my existing airbag module.

Steering wheel, wiring loom, control module.

Thanks!

Yes you can use your old airbag.!

You just need to see if it's the same shape .!

Send an email to skodateile and they would be able to help you out.

You might have to check if your steering wheel module is a highline one .!!

You'll need a new steering wheel + MFSW wiring loom+ coding

I've fitted a 3-spokeMFSW on my FL.

I saw your post with the new maxidot, I think it might be a bit different for the steering wheel with a pre facelift car like I've got though. Looking back at the pictures of the steering wheel on that site I think it is the FL one. I checked my module part number as well so it is a midline one.

Colin you'll need a highline control module;

Then an airbag and airbag wiring harness.

However I was sure I read somewhere about the FL wheel not working, but I could be wrong.

I found that wiki bit about the modules last night so it was quite helpful. Looks like I have a midline so like you say would need to get a highline one to cover the MFSW. If I couldn't get a 3 spoke wheel from a pre FL Octavia then it's probably getting too expensive if I had to look for a new air bag as well.

If I found one to just slot my existing airbag into I could live with having to get the wiring and look out for a second hand module I think otherwise it might be out of reach. Pity as well, I would almost be "fully loaded" if I managed to do that.

Can you get a pre FL MFSW from a VRS? I didn't think you could?

I'd go down the Mk5 Golf route.

I'm wasn't even sure. I think you're right from what I've read though. I don't know what it is guys are getting fitted by shark performance as I've seen a few mentions in posts. I'll maybe try and message one of them and find out what they needed.

I thought the same, weren't Shark only fitting the MFSW to FL cars?

John

I know the OP was talking about a pre FL vRS, but I see Skodateile are now doing a 3 spoke mfsw for a FL vRS but with smooth leather rather than the perforated:

3 spoke MFSW - vRS FL

I think that's the one I was looking at, they had it listed under the Octavia II rather then the facelift section which was why I wondered if it would fit but I don't reckon its the right thing. I'd just assumed there was one in the older Octavia
