!.9TDI Timing Belt Change

Featured Replies

Hi!

I have a 1.9TDI and its only done 52,000km. Its a 2005 model. My dealer says that the Timing belt will have to be changed at 65,000km. Is this necessary? Cost in India for the TB kit is about Rs 25,000/+ labour charges.

Where can I get a TB kit for my vehicle?

Try E-Bay, and make clear to seller your exact model of car, you could give seller your car registration number.

Kit costs about 95.00 english pounds, for a Fabia VRS.

I think i'm right in saying that Skoda announced the timing belt should be changed at 4 years not dependant on mileage (so long as its not silly).

This would work out to be about 65000 kms so would make sense, it all depends if you want a Skoda kit or a none genuine part. There are loads of car parts websites on the internet, (not sure where you are based ?) but your price above works out to be about £335 which to me seems about right for a genuine Skoda repair with warranty. Cheapest new timing belt kit i can find off one of the suppliers i use is between £100 and £200 dependant on manufacturer plus it'll be a good few hours labour at around £40 per hour.

Hope this helps.

Regards Dave
