steering wheel angle speed sensor clicking?

Featured Replies

Hey folks need some help.

I removed steering wheel and airbag the other day to fit cruise control. I fitted the steering wheel angle speed sensor back as it came off but now it clicks when i turn steering wheel. Maybe it moved but i was careful. I don't have ESP so think it just acts as a airbag connection but it's very annoying clicking. Any ideas??

are you sure its the angle sensor thats clicking nothing else ,if it had moved out of position you would reset it with vcds ,it wouldn't normally click.

you might have to have that wheel off again what a pain in the ar5e.

yep definatley that bit as i had steering wheel off and could replicate it. I think it is a little spring loaded pin that is meant to connect in the steering wheel, will have a better look tomorrow.

Did you sort it ?

Hi bud, yes i did about half hour ago.

Was simple in the end. The disc "speed sensor wheel" that sits behind the steering wheels connects to the stalks and has 2 bullets that go through the steering wheel. I had fitted the stalks too far down the steering column and the disc spring loaded pin was not making enough contact with the steering wheel. After moving the stalks and refitting the steering wheel all is now good. Luckily I don't have ESP so did not need to reset the angle sensor with VAGCOM.

The pic shows the sensor and the little spring loaded pin on the right hand side that was not making contact enough
