I have just reinstalled the Skoda Symphony head unit. The unit starts on "safe" then works when the security code is entered. However when the car is next used the code has to be entered again. It seems the car forgets the code...the unit worked perfectly when previously removed.

Any advice please?

One of the 12Volt backup feeds is missing.

I assume there was an after market radio fitted? If so the 12v power supply cables will of needed to be swapped round (one is permanent 12v, the other ignition fed), the radio is loosing it's power by the sounds of it so swap them back to how they were as std.

There was an aftermarket headunit fitted, how do I identify then swap the feeds back?

Have a look at the plugs. you should see that 2 wires have been cut and re joined and probably taped up. So reversing them back should sort it out.

Yes you need to look for a pair of wires that have been swapped (the colours of the wires will change) not sure if and of the VAG group use in-line fuses near the radio? if they do then this is a favourite place to swap them over, pop the headunit out and take a look
