Mobile works hands free through Jumbo box aux in plug

Featured Replies

I don't know if anyone else has noticed (someone must have). That if you have your mobile plugged in to the jumbo box aux in and make a call it actually works through the bolero speakers like bluetooth hands free. You don't get screen display or anything but its handy if you haven't got bt. Ok its not ideal but it fills the gap for now util I get a Parrot fitted. It only works if you have the bolero set to Aux. I only noticed because I was playing music from my phone through the aux input when my wife phoned. I pressed the phone to answer when her voice came through the speakers. I put the phone on the seat and she said she could her me clearly. Oviously I could hear her. Has any one else tried this or heard about it? Is there already a thread about it?

Yeah I've noticed it before mate

I didn't know this so thanks for the tip :)

I learn something new every day!

Wait, you're surprised because you can hear the audio output from your phone through your HU when it's plugged into the aux-in?

What am I missing?

This only works well with certain phones. Come to think of it most will probably work but I have the Samsung Galaxy S and it wont work like this due to the mic on the phone picking up the sound from the speakers causing echos.

Best thing to do is try it and see what happens.

It's just playing the audio output.... that's why it works when you have Aux selected, if you try to use it like hands free set up it can result in acoustic feedback, I would't regard it as a feature but useful if your phone happens to work this way... not really handsfree though because you have to "handle" the phone to answer it unless you have one which auto-answers after however many rings.....

Its handy until I get the 1st finance payment out of the way and the i'll probably get a parrot fitted. But it will do for now for nowt

Useful info - got me thinking that it could be handy if your phone has a satnav function built in as well, that way you'd actually get to hear the instructions 1st time round...

(Saving for a Fiscon job when the new motor arrives)

I found out this function by accident when listening to my phone trough the AUX input and somebody phoned me......

....but that was 2 years ago! :p

That what I do and if someone does call I can still take it. I have a Nokia phone with the OviMaps GPS. Only works of course with the the Radio switched to Aux so you cant listen to the radio whilst awaiting calls or GPS instructions. I would still prefer the full GPS and bluetooth options but having saved over £1300 I can put up with the limitations of my phone which has the added benefit of being able to take it with me when I leave the car.
