Yeti spare wheel question

Featured Replies

Unfortunately I had one of my tyres slashed a few nights ago and it put me out of action for ages as I had no spare wheel (needed the extra boot space for my large dog). I had to order a tyre which took 12hrs to come in to stock. I then had to remove my wheel, borrow a car and take it to the tyre centre to have the new tyre fitted. It was all a bit of a hoo haar and I would therefore like to invest in a spare wheel to keep in my garage. Any ideas where I can buy one from? I don't seem to be able to see it as an option on any of the yeti brochures...Thanks in advance for your help :)

THere are tones on Ebay, since it is just a spare, I don't think aesthetic is paramount(?)

I think it is 5X112 PCD, check on TP's post on wheels. Anything on the same VAG platform should fit, Golf (Mk5/6), Octavia and I think possibly older Audi and Passat (from 1996 on), but not sure about offset.

The older ones are cheap as chips, I actually mean chips, think they can sell for anything from £5.

Seeing as my tyre was slashed, it could not be repaired so the 'spare' would become my every day tyre. I guess to be on the safe side I would like a ready made/as new spare wheel...

By the sounds of it your after a new Dolomite alloy to match the rest :wonder: Think there around the £150 mark new and should be available within a day or two of ordering (mind they ran out last year for a week or two and had to fit Anna alloys at the factory to the SE instead).

Part number for the Dolomite rim can be found in the guide;

Just looked at the Allams on-line store and there advertised there My link

I was gutted to have it vandalised. It was parked off-road in a darkish private car park and some yobs took advantage or the poor lighting. I think I'm being a typical girl here. I thought I could literally buy a spare wheel with alloy/tyre and all!! So I'd have to buy the wheel and tyre separately?

Hi,

yes unfortunately so; only the official spare I believe can be purchased ready to go. However again most Skoda dealers supply and fit tyres, so theoretically you could order ready made for collection. give them a bit of a sob story and you might even blag discount. Normally can get a bit off the price at my local dealers.

Thanks for the info. So how do I purchase the 'official spare'?

It's probably a good idea for potential new owners to add the spare wheel option @ £75 and then just remove it at home and let the floor sit lower. Can this be done?

Yes a number of owners have done this and purchased the standard floor carpet and polystyrene filler piece that sits in the shallow recess for the spare.

I have done that, but at the time of writing, I have actually put the false floor back in for the moment. If you have the horizontal bars in the boot, you can fasten the spare wheel to them and to a tie down point and have the wheel vertically, so you have more space in the boot. I just felt like a change...emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

When I need to transport my bicycle, I will convert back to vertical spare wheel, but you can't use the parcel shelf as the tyre is too tall. And when the winter comes and I have my full size spare winter wheel, it will take up even more height and it won't fit in the 'spare wheel compartment'.

I'd be interested to know a source for these items. Does anyone know the part numbers and how much they cost?

I will look for them later, but a word of warning, they are all the same!

I've been away (and in a location with no/limited access to t'Interweb - didn't know such places existed within the EU but it turns out that that particular semi-deserted Sardinian beach had no 3G coverage!) so I've not had much of a chance to check back on this thread until today. Did you manage to track down the part numbers & and sources for the standard floor and the filler for the spare wheel recess?

Bit like lots of London I visit then..............

Looking at those pics, could you not basderdise a second shelf and make a step up on the side where the wheel sits?

nanny wouldnt let me spell the swearword correctly!!

Many, many thanks for taking the time to take and post those photos. I assume I can just ask a dealer to order the parts based on those part numbers. Would need to confirm costs before placing the order, though!
