Featured Replies

Had the asr light come on tonight, so turned off the ignition and on again and it came back on after 5 mins. Tried the ignition off and on trick again and it hasnt come back on this time after 30 mins of driving. Ive done a scan with vcds and have this

Since ive scanned it ive cleared the findings and been round the block and rescanned, now there is no fault found!

Any ideas?

Possibly plug not in properly.

A comms error is a power supply problem. Can happen from time to time. Can also come from a bad earth to the ABS controller.

"DTCs not supported by controller" could mean there are faults there but you don't have a full version of VCDS? Is it the Lite version?

Its one i borrowed from my neighbour! Its the 908 version is all i know about it but i was told to disconnect from the internet when using it.

After i got the pic above, i cleared the codes etc and went round the block a couple of times and re scanned and now the bit in red is black and says no faults found.

Would there be anything obvious i could look at that maybe causing the problem?

Just a thought but could i have knocked something when i did my console bushes?

A comms error is usually power or lead related.

If you're ever anywhere near Loughborough on a weekday, I've got a proper KEY-USB lead and the latest version of VCDS (the real thing, yours sounds a bit iffy, no offence!), gladly bring it to work with me one day if it's any use to you?

opposite way to work sadly! Thanks though mate.

His version looks perfectly fine. Version 908 is one of the later versions and proabbly just hasn't been updated. I've seen that error a few times. I've got the genuine version too.

I just couldn't figure out the relevance of not connecting to the Internet. If you've got a genuine cable, or paid for a license, you're entitled to the upgrades so why wouldn't you want them, given that they provide bug fixes? That just sounds like cracked software to me, apologies if anyone's offended!

i have vag com on a small laptop and regularly use it to do scans for people. Usually when I turn it on, i'm at the garage and it can go without updates for a while. Could be an explanation.

Either way, it seems to have no problems reading faults there and the no comms error can happen sometimes.
