Which brake pads/discs?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me how I find out which brake discs and pads are the correct size to order for my car?

I have a Fabia 1.4 16v 2003 but when I search on eurocarparts I'm given multiples of options and I have no idea which ones are correct as they all seem to differ in some minute way?

Thanks,

Andrew

Is this the 100bhp 5 speed manual gearbox???

There are only one size of discs/pads etc for etc axle on the car...but two different types of pad for each axle on the car...I have the same problem with manufactures saying one thing but I need a different thing!! You need to look at the calipers and see if you have a set of wires coming from the calipers (brakepad wear indicator) there is allready one set of wires from the hub/strut which is the ABS. I use EBC discs and green stuff pads front and back..very good! B)

I fitted Greenstuff pads to mine, Never been entirely impressed with them, And after Saturday's discovery, I'd be disinclined to ever fit them again!

It is indeed the 100bhp 5 speed manual.

I'm looking at eurocarparts and the options I have are:

1LQ, 1LR

1LN, 1LP

or 1LB, 1LM

Another website reckons this code should be on the option code list but I can't see it on mine anywhere? The pads that look most like mine are 1LQ, 1LR but I can't say for sure. I suppose if the discs are all the same I may as well get the most similar looking pads and the discs with the matching code?

So to clarify- 2 sets of wires means it has a wear indicator, 1 means it doesnt?

Excellent, I'll have a look in my lunch break...hopefully I'll be able to see without removing the wheel??

Just had a look at their site...hhhmmm......bit confusing!!!! You might need to measure the dia of the discs...but mine are 256mm dia front vented, and the rears are 233mm dia solid.....as they seem to state the bigger and smaller discs for the Pagid make for the same engine.....the web list is wrong....also the pad list is a bit strange....does the front caliper have FS-III stamped on the front face???? It does have FS-III stamped, yes...visually, the most similar ones I can find are part no. 101440568 (link below) ... the matching brake discs (judging by the restriction code/PR No.) being 256mm in diameter front vented, which seems to collaborate with what you're saying? Links below

Excellent! I shall order them up and see what my (significantly more mechanically-minded) friend says about them :p

I'm afraid to say I haven't heard of either of those before! :( Thank you very much for the advice though, I will be sure to let you know how I get on.

And here's what happened to one of my pads!

^^^^^^^Only had that happen to mine as the pad frition material gets down to the same thickness as the metal backing plate!!! Had EBC for 7years now.....just installed my second set of pads and discs!! B)
