How to manually open the boot from inside :)

Featured Replies

Folks,

Boot on my '06 fabia Combi won't open. I can hear the buzzing of the central locking when I try to open from outside, but it will not open. Can't seem to full close it now either, as the boot light is remaining on.

Firstly, can anyone give me steps to open the boot manually from inside? I need the idiots guide as I've been in the boot and gained access to the lock but can't seem to get anything to buge.

Secondly, any idea what the problem is?

Thanks,

Mully

Try pressing down on the boot lid with the palm of your hand as you press the release button on the tailgate.

Tried that Sam, and the fuse, no good :(

Crowbar!

Sounds like the lock is sticking

Try spray some wd 40 as best as you can on the catch, failing that you'll have to get the rear boot plastic trim off somehow, could get messy and you'll probably get torn to bits

My lupo did the same the other night, i remedied it by locking and un-locking the boot a few times manually with the key but from memory the fabia doesnt have a key entry :o

I just climbed through the back seat and released it with a screw driver as a lever on the hook part, boot opened, I gave it a general clean out and a schoosh with wd40 never stuck since

I've been in the boot (a few times now). I've tried to lever the sliver hook that closes on the loop but it will not buge. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. So much for the safety feature of being able to open the boot manually from the inside.

Climb in and pull out the little plastic centre section under the loop so you can see what the story is properly. When you get the boot open stand at the back of the car and remove the length of platic where the floor meets the back panel - just give it a sharp tug upwards. The motor will then be visible, make sure that the actuating rod between the motor and lock catch is moving freely. I put vaseline on mine and operated the mechanism several times.
