Sorry, just getting a bit excited! i pick up my year old vRS tommorow. But whats the first thing i should do:)

Just sit in it quietly for 15 minutes before going anywhere. Breath slowly and mindfully - and just calm down!

1st thing to do is:-

Open the door & get in :)

Steve

2nd... Foot on clutch, trun ignition key, wait for coil to go out, start.

3rd... Rev to 2500rpm, dump the clutch, rip up handbrake and smoke those front tyres!

Or you could take it for a nice lil "sprirted" but sensible drive, grinning from ear to ear.

Roll on 1st March!

Feeeeeeeeeeel the power

All i can say is WOWWWW!! I'll be grinning all week!!

I just cant beleive how powerful it is, its just so much better than my old saxo. Spent most of the journey back home looking through the trip computer. still a bit cautious with the steering rate and what i can feel through it, and the weight is just so noticeable to me. Though the best thing, being over 6 foot tall is the adjustability of the driving position, it means i can relax while driving!

Just a few comments..

Having read the manual it doesnt explain what ASR on the ASR button stands for??

Also how customizable is the the whole locking thing? As the book doesnt mention that 1 click of the unlock button does only the drivers door, 2 clicks does all.

There seems to be very little difference between min and max on the cooloant and oil levels, it'll keep me busy checking them all the time! and i have no idea on the brake fluid! how on earth are you supposed to see it?

Its just so deceptively quick:)

I'll be spending most of my time on the M23,25 and M4 so give us a wave if you spot it!!

ASR is the traction control.

M23? Where abouts are you normally? How far south? I live at the bottom of it and tend to go to the Crawley or Gatwick turnoffs a fair bit?

And please say you didnt pick it up from Crawley Down? Whatever you do, don't take it in for servicing there, bad service is well known there.

Hey, so you're pleased then :D

ASR - Anti Slip Regulation

Assuming the locking is the same as the Octy then this is configurable by the dealer - I've got mine set on one click for drivers door only as a security measure but it wasn't like that originally. (Or someone with VAG-COM could probably do it)

Where did you buy if you dont mind me asking, i part exd my red 04 furby at marlborough skoda isleworth, could it be the same one ?

Well i live in Crawley and travel up and round the motorways to work in Greenford.

I guess it could Chris as thats where i bought it from! Wanna tell me anything;)

Was thinking of getting it serviced at Crawley Down, as its the nearest garage to home, but i need to pick up top-up fluids so will see what they look like next weekend.

Spanner, I bought my Clio from Crawley Down and had numerous services and repairs there. They are great if you don't need a courtesy car. That is the biggest problem for them, too many people wanting them and not enough cars, so they promise you one, you turn up, give them the keys and then they say, oh by the way we cant get you a car.

Try Clarion Cars in Worthing, the service is meant to be so much better.

Oh and if you see GN51 TVC about, give me a wave, I'm in Broadfield.

The K&N sticker on the rear window was a bit a clue that someone had been playing with it. They didnt seem to know what had been done to it so maybe they changed it to standard, havent check to see if the air filter is standard.

Thats the one mate, cracking car i hope you enjoy it as much as i did and im glad its still part of briskoda.

P.S Did it still have the Briskoda sticker in the rear window and is that how you found the site ?

I've been lurking around the forums for a few weeks before looking at the car so it was a surprise to see the Briskoda sticker. Had thought that if the previous owner was part of the Briskoda family then it would probably have been looked after well and not driven by some idiot boy racer. No offence!

If you dont mind, could you tell me what you actually did to it?

Dont worry, i'm not looking for someone to blame for any problems or this and that, or expect anything from you, but i'd be interested to know.

Might help me to understand a few things about it.

None taken :D

I like to think i looked after it,that car was my pride and joy i only got rid because i needed more space hence the octy.

Have a look on rear door (near side) you might see a very small dent, its quite hard to spot, thats a scar from super market car park, i went mad when i spotted that.Thats how protective i was of that furby.

So thats-

Air filter =

Just remap/chip, (not sure what they done i was a bit green back then) and air filter.

I still have original program on spare chip if you ever need to return to standard, send me your address and i will post it to you if you wish, its of no use to me.

Also the spare wheel has had a puncture repair so if you use it dont drive to fast on motorway (ive never trusted repairs).

hmm... I suspected it was just the air filter but a remap! :(

I dont suppose there's any way of knowing if its still on there. My main reason for buying one was the better fuel economy over my saxo vtr but at the moment its better but not by much.

Maybe its the way i'm driving it, but i'm getting black streaks along the car which i think is coming from the air inlet.I did think it was just general road dirt, but its black. Maybe when i lift off the lack of pressure is forcing the fuel back out. I really dont know.

I would prefer at the moment to have it standard so if you could send it, thanks.

Could Skoda themselves do something like this?

I found fuel e/con improved after remaping by small amount but like you say it depends how much you use your right foot.

As for black streaks you have me confused ?

The work was carried out at super chips (kent) they will convert the car back to standard using the chip that i mentioned, they will do this for free if i remember rightly. If you have the work done at skoda im sure it wont be cheap.

Im sorry your not happy with the car but i found it a different animal after the work was done, there are a lot of people on this site that will say super chips are not as good as other tunning companys but i was very happy with what they done.

Im sure Marlborough skoda do a 30 day exchange thing if your not happy so you could always go that route asuming the car has not been put back to standard, I know its all agro :(

You will need to PM me your address for me to forward chip, I can also send you details of the company that carried out the work.

If you do decide to have the work done book it in for a sat/sun they will do the work while you wait (only takes an hour). You will really notice the difference, the car will feel a lot slower and im sure fuel e/con will not improve.

Ps One side affect of the chip will be more smoke from the exhaust when using full throtle but the seat air intake is said to cure some of that, there is a thread on here about this issue you will need to do a search to find it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help and advice Chris, I dunno maybe i'm just panicking. Ive barely had it 5 minutes. I'm probably just being scared by watching the fuel economy read-out!!!!

I'll PM you my details

About the streaks, I originally thought it was just general road dirt but its obvious at several places, but its more along the sides and at the front. Its noticeable when water will collect on the body, mainly on the mirrors and also along the edge of the rear doors. Ill try and get some pictures at the weekend, but its like theres a black liquid sprayed at the front of the car. There's also a noticeable fuel type smell in the cabin.

Thats a strange one mate can honestly say i didnt experience anything like that. The car was due for its first service when i part exed it, did they service the car before you picked it up? if so they may have done something to cause this problem. look forward to seeing pictures of the car, it may shed some light on the problem.
