Hello Matty_turbo

Welcome to this site, plenty of help when you need it.

Not sure if you have a Octavia MK1 VRS or Fabia MK1 VRS.

Usually on the Fabia VRS MK1 remote control key fob, one press on the 'open door button' will only open the drivers door.

Where as to press the same button twice, will open all the doors and tailgate.

Will the doors all lock including the drivers door when using the key fob.

Have you a second key fob to try out ??

Hi sorry I forgot to say it is a mk1 octavia and when I use the remote all the doors either lock Or open bar the drivers door but it will lock when I use the key in door barrel. Thanks for your reply

you need to take the door card off and take a look, could be a broken wire where the loom goes through the door, or could be the micro switch in the door mech itself at fault.

I've been chasing this fault for the last six months. I bought a whole working door to try to cure it. I've swapped the loom, lock, window mech and still no luck. I've given up of late and have just got used to using the key. :(

If you solve it, let me know how you did it.

@vrs mike - yea i must strip the door card off and have a wee poke around, ive also noticed tonight that the interior light doesnt come on when the drivers door is open so hopefully its just the locking mech.

@skinnyman - if i do il let you know and if you do you can let me know :D

ok after a bit of mid night mechanicing i have found that there is 3 pins broken inside my CCU so i would guess that it a good start to my problem, for me to replace it does it have to be from a octy or can i use one from another vag car?

also is there anyway to spilt the CCU connector to remove the broken pins from my loom?

CCU? - Convenience Control Unit? I've never ever seen any pins broken on one. I think that you mean the door control unit, which in your view may seem a bit pedantic, but it makes a huge difference when ordering replacement parts.

You need to replace it with one of exactly the same part number, the electrical plugs usually contain purple plastic locking segments, which you move or remove to unlock the cables. The cable connectors have metal tangs which need to be flattened to enable them to be pulled out of the connector block.

Have a look at my thread here.....

I had exactly the same problem and its now fixed.

I dont see the age of your car but I have the driver door controller (incorporated in the window motor) for a 1999 Octy 1 (mines a 1.9Tdi 110 but I guess they are all the same) if you would like it - £35 is what I paid for it plus p&p and I know it works.

The part number on the motor is 1U6959802A and the white barcoded label on the black plastic housing below the big spring clip that holds it together is 101447-201 05 0763 60

okay after a bit of head scratching i hardwired my loom into my units circuit board pins and everything seams to be working now as it should be :D it still needs building up again after the sealer has dried which i put on incase any water gets in. Im sure this is a perfect hold, but i will still replace it if i can source a loom and unit from a breakers incase anything happens it i can then just throw the breakers unit in it.

Pretty pleased but it was alot of soldering 3 or 4 hours worth and wouldnt look forward to doing it again tho, there was some of my wires that had rusted up the loom abit so i just cut them out and replaced them with some new stuff. so even if my pins hadnt broke it wouldnt have worked anyway beacuse of the damage that water had caused!
