SKODA FABIA SERVICE STICKY

Featured Replies

Hi I am about to do a service and was wondering if its a good idea to post it here, I have never done before so I was thinking of posting it step by step ;) photos and write up,good idea or not?,will be changing oil by top empty extraction pump, oil filter change and fuel filter change I would imagine there would be plenty that are quite scared of changing stuff themselves so I will be the guinea pig :wonder:

sounds like a great idea!

I'd be scared to touch more than the dipstick under the bonnet! Don't know jack all about a car engine, just looks nice lol

 It would be a great idea.

Adam serious if I am attempting it, it's got to be easy you will save sooooo much money!, I reckon a service which is oil filter, fuel filter and pollen filter change plus the oil must be knocking £200 , I've bought the pump extractor system silverline so no crawling underneath and removing engine shield no jacking no ramps just takes a few minutes, so all going well will do it end of the month and put it on here in one of the discussions lounge

Great idea! Although I struggle to weigh up the benefits of self service on a car or taking it back to a dealer for a stamp and more 'acceptable' service history when it comes to selling it.

I've got another 7000 miles or so to make my mind up on that one I suppose!!

If it's under warranty just get the dealer to do it unless you know a good VAT registered indy to do it. If you build up a rapport with your dealer they are more likely to got of their way to help you if things go wrong. I think FDSH is nice and if you can afford it then do it. It does affect trade-in if it doesn't have it but not too sure about selling privately. Some people only care if it's been service and not by whom. If you run your car into the ground then just do it yourself.

Well I will be servicing the 2008 1.4tdi just out of warranty so no sweat really just oil filter, fuel filter, pollen filter and Castrol edge 5wx30 oil change, so not to much risk but when it comes to anything mechanical my mate will sort and he can stamp my book as he is self employed ex- skoda mechanic so if I get it wrong he'll sort it

Seb...don't forget to use good quality wind in tyres...no secondhand stuff!!!...
