Can I get the delay taken out of the DSG transmission

Featured Replies

Because I find it a nusience when manouvering & hill starting plus I always sit in neutral wnen stopped at lights or junctions.

After 11,500 miles it is if anything getting more annoying, possibly because a lot of my driving is stop start short run & urban stuff.

The traditional Mercedes auto box in the wifes Van is a complete pleasure in comparision, when used in the same manner.

Is this a VCDS job as I would presume the dealer will not do this.

i don't put mine into neutral and have not had any problems you only need to use natural if you stop for a long time and even then the car will warn you to take the car out of drive. bill

Dang it!

I forgot to add that I dispise the need to have ones foot on the footbrake to select "D" or "R", I end up "stabbing" the pedal cos my foot is on the throttle pedal and I have to swith back......in a hurry.

Again the traditional slush box is different & more intutive to use..

I am easily "lamped" by brakelights (while sitting in a queue of cars) after dark and do not wish to inflict this on others either.

I'd be very interested to hear how you get on as I have a similar problem and it really annoys me.

I tried Mulhollands in Randalstown but the receptionist wouldn't let me speak to a mechanic to see if it was possible to adjust anything, just wanted to book me in for diagnostics. They don't seem to sell many Autos or have much experience with them.

Kenbo,

I did not even consider a Skoda dealer as this proposed "tweek" would certainly cause warrenty issues if a fault developed with the DSG

( or probably any other non related bit for that matter,i.e. paint blistered on the bonnet.........That Sir, that would be due to that "Tweek" you got done to the DSG Sir: rofl: )

Anyway I am happy that I would be capable of not abusing the mechanism if I can get this modification done.

Oh yes plus that dammened "hill holder" stupid brake delay arrangment disabled as well.

Gerrr!

Ps

Perhaps I should just test drive a Ford Powershift equipped vehicle :giggle:

I had a diesel DSG loan car for a day while mine was in for service, I noticed in standard D mode there was a slight delay, but in S mode it was instant (as expected I s'pose). Is that the kind of difference you'd be after?

If the only difference btwn D and S is the software mapping, surely your D can be adapted then...

You shouldn't need to dab the brake pedal if swiftly changing between D and R as there is a delay built into the software to allow you to do this before the interlock engages. It is to allow "rocking" to free a car stuck in snow etc.
