Porsche Cayenne 17" Wheels

Featured Replies

My mate is looking to sell me his 17" Porsche Cayenne alloys, I know there 7" wide all round. What else do I need to know in order to see if these will fit, i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to alloys so any help would be appreciated.

He's happy to hold onto them until I can get adapters etc including the funds to go with them.

Also is there any risks associated with using the adapters, I vaguely remember reading a thread about them but cant really remember and as I said bit of a noob on the wheels front :D

Thanks,

Michael

You need to know the PCD and the ET of the wheels so you can see if you can get the correct adapters to fit.

Hmmm the only 17" Cayenne wheels I can find via the power of google are these

5930-l.jpg

and according to this website they are 7.5" wide not 7"

Stud pattern (PCD as Gizmo mentions above) is 5 x 130mm (5 holes around a circle with a diamater of 130mm to the centre of each hole)

Stud pattern on Fabia is 5 x 100 so you will need to find some 5x100 to 5x130 adapters

You'll also need to check the Offset (ET as Gizmo mentions above) which is the distance from hub fixing face to centre line of the wheel if too small the spokes won't clear the brake calipers and the wheels won't actually turn

you'll also need to check the centre bore is the right size to fit snuggly on the centre hub (or hub on the adaptor) otherwise you might need spigot rings to reduce the hole or to mahcine some metal out to make it larger

Fitting wheels from a differnet manufacturer is a massive minefield!! :S

centre bore will be taken care of by the hub adapters.

Most Porsche wheels are a fairly high adpater friendly offset (around ET50). Depending on the amount of poke you want to acheive, you'll probably be looking at needing around 25mm-30mm (5x100 - 5x130) adapters.

Find out the exact offset and we'll be able to give a more accurate indication of the adapters required

When you buy adaptors Gareth do you have to specify a centre bore size?

and if it's the wheels above the website says ET53 :)

20mm 5x100 to 5x130 hubcentric adaptors

Need to know the et

Thanks for the replies guys, I text my mate and he said he thinks its ET53 though hes going to double check, those are the alloys. Apparently genuine porsche alloys are 7's and rep's tend to be 7.5's. This is his 2nd set and he's usually pretty clued up on this sort of stuff. Anybody able to confirm this by chance?

I was just going by what the website says

Set of 4 Genuine Porsche alloy wheels

We DO NOT sell any replica alloy wheels

Front & Rear alloy wheels: 17x7.5" ET53

Wheel part number: POR 955362126019A1

Additional alloy part number: 7L5601025P

I would say 25mm adaptors would look the best

Based on an ET53, I'd tend to agree with you Jase. With 25mm adapters, there wouldn't be too much scrubbing if the car is running low. For more 'stance' Mike could go with 25mm at the back and 30mm at the front, but this may lead to more scrubbing at the front end when looooow.

If you were local to me Mike, i'd let you trial some adpaters (I have 35mm, 25mm & 20mm), but as you're as far away as possible, I do see this being an option....

When I have ordered adapters, I have not needed to specify this - just the car details. i'd assume that as all vag 5x100s are the same, FK, H&R and any other adapter brands have a large stock pile of ready to go adapters.

I'd also have to assume that Porsche wheels are all the same bore & PCD as each other.

This is actually something that i've never considered and if incorrect, could be disastrous. Thankfully, vag 5x100 to Porsche 5x130 works like a dream on FK adapters :D

Would they be okay on 25mm adapters if the cars lowered 25mm?

I'm planning on going for the Koni STR.T Kit so it would be a 25mm drop, dont want to go too low mainly because i've 4 stupidly big speedbumps on the way into work and the general condition of the roads up here is appalling. Thanks for the offer Gareth, you've actually given me an idea, my mate currently has them on a mk3 ibiza, happen to know if there the same pcd as the fabia, if they are I could always try his.

I take it FK adapters are probably the best ones to go for then?

He definately said 7 wide, thanks for the help I think i'll need to do a bit of research into them, if he has reps and is selling them off as genuine then need i'll need to find out which size is right so im not being ripped off

Mike - I'm pretty sure that the mk3 Ibiza is 4x100, so won't fit a fabia.

FK are good - probably not as good as H&R, but then they are half the price!

When I purchased my twists, I intended to buy H&R if the FKs weren't any good. But, honestly, the FKs are really good and i'd defo recommend them.

As for the ride height, I've been quite open in my opinion that 25mm is not a big enough drop for the fabia - been there, done that and I could barely tell it had been lowered. I'd always recommend getting a mid range set of coilovers, such as Weitec or KW V1s and setting the height that you want - you can always adjust it either way.

I run my car pretty low (it is much lower now than in the sig pic) and it handles speed bumps fine, just drive slowly ;)

Yes 25mm drop will work no problem

On 17's id be inclinded to go fof coilovers...

Yep the mk3

ibiza_cupraR.completed.jpg

is the same stud pattern as my mark 2 (mk3 wheels on a mk2 is a common "upgrade")

mk4

seat_ibiza_cupra_2006.jpg

is the same as a Fabia

Ah well worth a shot. Thanks for the help guys, im now being tempted away from the koni kit back towards a set of weitecs, decisions, decisions :D

I'll have a look at some fabia's with 17's and a 25mm drop and see what they look like

25mm drop & 17's = monster truck :D As said, doesn't look lowered on just springs. Just becauseyou get coilovers doesn't mean you have to slam it

Just because you get coilovers doesn't mean you have to slam it

Awesome quote there Matt - please say this in every springs vs coilovers thread

:D I think people do sometimes get a bit carried away with thinking if they get coilovers they have to be on the floor. The ride & handling is better than just springs, or IMO shocks and springs too from what i`v seen. Yes they are a bit more expensive, but there is plenty of cheaper kits for the smaller budget. On top of this, you can tweak the ride hight to be exactly what you want, be it low`s, or in the case of CT17 (i think) stock monster truck hight for the extra surprise factor lol

You guys do make a fair point, though from the point of view of a 19 year old trying to insure a car such as a vRS as standard is expensive never mind declaring mods, could always talk the insurance company into aftermarket springs and dampeners etc but the minute you mention coilovers they bump up the price straight away. Unfortunately this is something that I have to consider especially since the national average for under 21's has apparently increased 58% :(

You dont have to tell them what type it is... Usually they go into categories

Upto 40mm lowering

+ 40mm lowering

Springs or coilovers dont matter

So you could lower 40mm on coils would look better than 25mm springs

Im sure my insurance is upto 50mm

Yup that's how all my past insurers have done it too. By the time the wheels have been added too you might as well just do the lot?
