ENGINE MANAGEMENT PROBLEM 16496

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2002 skoda fabia 8v. It is a fantastic car except since a week after i bought it the engine management light has been on. After 4 months of fluffing about i have managed to change the air intake map sensor but the light has come back on with the fault '16496 intake air temp circ'. the car is running alot better since i have changed the map sensor, but it is still misfiring like crazy, and running a little roughly it also lacks power. Can anyone help me, please? I am seriously concerned that i may have to sell it as spares or repairs and buy myself an old banger. It is really upsetting as i spent all my savings buying this car as i wanted something reliable! Can anyone in skodaland help, and has anybody else had the same problem? Thanks guys! Alex

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch,

Do you know which one is most likely? and if i am going to change this stuff what order do i want to change them in?

I know it seems a silly thing to ask but would rather try the most likely things first! lol

Thanks again!

Mostly do diesels, so fuse layout will be different. There should be a fuse card in your fusebox cover.

I would check fuses, then wiring, and if they are ok replace sensor.

Just wanted to report back - I changed the air flow sensor in my fabia, and the engine management is now perminently off. the car is still running rough as a dog but at least the light is off now so the fault is over. So if anyone has had the same fault as me just replace the air flow sensor (mine cost me £30).

Thanks for reporting back
