Removing rear wheels

Featured Replies

I seriously cannot get the rear wheels off my fab vrs! Anyone else had this prob or got any recomendations on what to do?

Got all the bolts out fine, but then the wheel is stuck solid! Tried levering it, whacking it, couple of bolts back in and driving into the curb etc . . .

did not budge.

The fronts were fine though. . ?!?

Whacking it from inside edge with a rubber mallet. That was the cure for mine when they stuck.

yup, everytime so far on my octavia, either hit it from the inside or try a bit of gentle leverage

had a 6lb sledge and a piece of 2x4 wood! would not budge!!!!

I may have to go to the garage to get this worted:(

aarrgghhhH!!!!

remember to hit it, sorry tap it, then rotate a bit and so on otherwise the wheel won't come off quite right

And having got the wheels off and cleaned the mating faces of any corrosion, smear a light coating of Granville copper grease anti-stick compound or similar on one mating face to make wheel removal easier in future.

try to lever the centre cap out and spray some wd40. then hit it!

Tom.

i POSTED THIS UP A WHILE AGO AFTER THE RUBBER MALLET TREATMENT, THE BEST TIP WAS TO SLACKEN THE WHEEL BOLTS AND ROCK IT WHEN STILL ON THE GROUND TO BREAK THE CORROSION
