Evening all.

Today I noticed a tapping noise coming from the left side of the engine as you look at it No1 cyl end, its almost like a tappet noise, could this be an early sign of an oil pressure issue and time to look at the pick up. I serviced a couple of months ago, unfortunately before reading about the pick up problems. Car now done 120k+.

Any other thoughts of possible cause.

yes it's perfectly normal..... its the carbon canister don't worry so there's no issue to be concerned with ticking = it's working

I dunno, the carbon canister makes a ticking, noise, but if it's coming fromt he engine it doens't sound like that.

Does it do it from a cold start, as the carbon cansiter only works when it's warmish?

Could just be noisy injector, quite common and nowt to worry about, One of mine has been doing it for ages without any problems

at the front left as you look at the car mine also ticks (black type box) ... garage said this was a recirculating the petrol vapour and perfectly normal to make that noise
