Opinions on Tyres

Featured Replies

I've been doing a couple of searches on tyre choices for the front of my vRS. I'm after a tyre with a harder compound that'll last a fair while and be average in most of the conditions the UK can throw at us.

I haven't really managed to get much from this-> http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Size/16-Inch-Tyres/205-45-16-Tyres.htm because everyone seems to love their tyres and wear rate is a function of grip so if it sticks like glue you won't mind if you get less than 8k out of a pair.

Opinions?

Im on pirelli pzeros at the mo, before that i had yoko parada spec 2. Both seem a popular choice and id say the pirelli's should last longer. Tyre traders have some good deals on tyres, thats where i got mine.

Turn of the year i was looking ofr some uniroyals rainsport 2's which everyone raves about but they were like hobby horse **** so ended up with Pirelli P Zero's and had no complaints but just got myself some Uniroyals from these people, http://www.allnewtyres.co.uk/, so will be putting them on soon. Looking forward to see if there is any difference.

I assume rainsports are a fairly hard tyre then?

The Rainsports grip extremely well wet or dry and wear well too, mine have been on for 27k miles and still have about 6/7k left in them.

Will be looking for them again next time.

I've had Toyo's & Khumo's.

The Khumo's lasted longer than the Toyo's. Not quite as nice a tyre though but do the job, they're not rubbish.

Tyres have been coming up on this forum since it all began and I've never, ever seen a bad word said about the Rainsports. They seem to be unbeatable.

You are right, If your search for 'Tyres' you will find over 1000 results.

I too had Toyos and there were not pretty good. They are quite soft which is good for dry grip, and (unlike my Goodyears) seemed to stay soft(ish) in winter too . Mine lasted 13k miles but I've heard people wear them out much quicker (10k or even less than that).

I have now got Rainsports and am impressed by them, however at the moment, like GSD3s they seam to be hard to buy.
