Going on holiday to France in the morning...on my way home form work i tried using cruise control and nothing. Switched it on and off, switched engine off etc and still doesnt work.

Anyone any ideas what could be wrong? Its been working fine...just decides to go wrong at exactly the wrong time!

Do your brake lights work? If the brake light switch is faulty then that can stop cruise control from working.

Usually a replacement break light switch if the switch has gone. Easy to replace

On a Mk1, the three most common causes are brake switch, LH stalk and clutch switch

It was the brake light switch. Got it done at hemel hemstead skoda on my way down to the channel tunnel!
