invisable to speed cameras ?

Featured Replies

read an article in one of todays papers about some type of "make up" which people are smearing on their number plates which prevents the cameras etc from getting a reading. does anyone know anything about this or is it just the usual old tosh ?

Jar of Vaseline perhaps, works on the camera lens for ugly people.

Hairspray. But no it doesn't work.

EDIT: oh in todays papers? erm the hairspray story was years ago..

If its anything like those old stick on transparent films you used to be able to get then it is indeed total tosh.

The idea was that they would reflect blue light back and "blind" the camera. My cousin who worls in traffic thought they were hilarious, he showed me a some of his training material, a GATSO pic of a car with supposedly invisible number plates. All the people who look at the photos have to do is put a biece of blue film over the picture and *poof* as if by magic the number plate is visible.

If what you refer to is something different that does work then I'd be interested to hear the science behind it.

Although of course it would be totally illegal.

Excuse me Mr Chemist , can I have a jar of vaseline for my number plates please ................................

:rofl::rofl: ..............that's what they all say ............. :D

Here is the company that sells it:

I know people who'll swear black's white it works - not seen the evidence myself but people I know say they have taken photos and it just comes up almost blank. It doesn't last though because it washes off after a while. Plus of course it's illegal to use it.

Hehehe! Mind you, it's apparently easy to keep your reg plate hidden from infra red number plate cameras - just make sure it's not reflective! Vehices with those aluminium silver on black registration plates fall nicely into that category...

IMO the incredibly bad photoshopping of the images on the front page of the site is an immediate turn-off. If it's so good, why don't they use proper photos rather than touching up 'normal' ones?

Just go to the local chemist and ask for a bottle of snake oil.

A liberal smear of snake oil over your number plate will render it invisible to laser, radar, ANPR, gamma ray, x-ray, and Johnny Ray. It will double your miles per gallon, and leave your car smelling of lavender

Do Johnny's have rays?

Do Johnny's have rays?

Not sure, but apparently Ray's have been known to have Johnny's...

Even with a "magic" make-up item applied, would you feel comfortable belting past a gatso? Bit of an expensive way to test the application to the plate.... :D
