I'm trying to track down a new "clonk" on my car and noticed that it is possible to rock the bottom of the radiator a bit. Is this normal (excuse my dirty engine bay and dead fly collection)...

I don't think this is the cause of my problems but might as well sort it on the off chance.

That's the same as mine. I think the bushes are shot though, as you get the clunking noise. It's suppossed to move, but the rubber mounts should dampen any noises.

I've got a bit of awesome padding wedged in mine to stop it.

I've got some big hose wedging mine still. Seems to be a common issue.

To be honest I was clutching at straws, my clonking is quite severe so I'd have been amazed if a little bit of play in the radiator would have caused it :(

thank you for posting right things at right time! spent two days looking for a bit that bangs, suspected top mounts, replaced, no luck. checked my rad - even worse then yours, will get it sorted tomorrow and my octy should be bang-free

My noise is quite loud and after accidently pulling away in second yesterday which caused the knocking I'm wondering if it is an engine mount? Hitting the throttle hard sometimes causes it too...

Oh well, it is booked in with a local specialist who I'm sure will sort it.

New lower mounts are available bit awkward to fit though without removing radiator

Hi there guys, I'm come onto this thread abit late but I was wondering if any of you could advise where I can get the radiator mounts? I've searched ebay with no luck, also tried a couple of online part shops... last resort will have to be the stealer, unless one you know of somewhere else?

I just changed my rad mounts while i was fitting my front mount, i took complete front panel off as i was getting it blasted and painted,

Even with panel off they are a complete p.i.t.a to change

I got mounts from skoda, there only a few quid each
