which one ? and 2.0 tdi problems ?

Featured Replies

Hi all new to the forum . i am looking for a new car and the mk 2 superb looks like a great package , but i have a few questions and where better to get the answers .

Firstly i have heard loads of things about problems with the 2.0tdi engine fitted in the vw group cars for having problems with oil pump drive failures causing the engine to written off ! , the research that i have done seems to put it down to engine code BLB but was wondering if it effects the skoda , it seem to be an issue as to if its chain driven and not gear driven .

Secondly i have also read that the piezo electric injectors can just fail on you causing the engine to shutdown again this seem to be just on the euro 5 cars with the common rail manifold .

thirdly with the possible problems with the tdi lump was wondering what the 1.8 tsi petrol was like with regards reliability can`t find much on it on the net , so i am thinking this is a good thing .

all answers greatly appreciated :wonder: :wonder:

Hi, and welcome to Briskoda.

Hmm, there has been a lot of hype recently regarding the so called "oil pump issue". If you take a read through the following thread you'll see that a lot of people became concerned and eventually the whole thing became yesterdays news :dull:

Basically, it doesn't affect new engines

thread...

So, as an owner of the CR 170, I'd definitely say you should get this engine... it's quiet, smooth, economical and is a perfect match for the dsg 'box. Even in the Combi, it's pretty quick too. Ok, so it's not a sports estate, but it's plenty fast enough.

Have fun deciding

It's not a sports estate?, it is compaired to my old Mondeo TDCi ;)

I agree though, it's a nice engine.
