Fabia 1.2 1 reliable?

Featured Replies

hi im new to the forum - havent been on since i bought my last Fabia 1.4 Classic 7 years ago?

two questions I have for Fabia 1.2 owners...

I have paid £4,800 for a 2008 Fabia 1.2 1 60 (has air con)- 24,500 on clock, is this a good price? and are there any things that may go wrong i.e. weaknesses in this model. your comments would be very useful.

my old Fabia had done 129,000 and hardly a thing went wrong apart from some electronic faults when i first got it. very reliable sad to see it go.

thank you! :)

Welcome back Tracey, No reason why this one won't be as reliable.

You might get some more answers if you post in the Fabia 2 section

thanks MDK1 - just realised my error - still thinking i had my old car! :giggle:

Well the 1.2 was developed by Skoda to replace the aged 1.4mpi (also designed by Skoda, actually based on engines by Skoda dating as far back as 60's/70's). They had to get rid of the 1.4mpi due to European Emissions legislation. The engine was considered good enough to put into VW Polos. I'll bet if you told people who owned the 1.2 petrol Polos their engine is Skoda designed they'd think you're on something

They don't seem to cause many problems, and are more frugal than the 1.4. That or the 1.9sdi would be what I would go for if I was looking for another Fabia.
