Hood Damper

Featured Replies

Now this looks interesting when it is released to market.

I presume it is just a posh bonnet holding up stick!

Sounds to me like a solution to a problem which does not exist.

Quite!

Or look at it another way ... it's an upgrade to bring it in line to the higher spec / more expensive models already produced by Skoda and VAG.

Only if VAG had a hand in producing it. (read my post again)

They have as you rightly pointed out been available for many years on other marques and no doubt one day will be std on ALL Skoda's.

I was assuming (emoticon-0136-giggle.gif) that it might be a damped bonnet lifter like the golf....so that it lifts the bonnet its self...

Pedant warning!

Why not describe it for what it is then, a, presumably, hydraulic bonnet prop?

It is not a damper, as that is designed to reduce rebound of a spring, or to reduce shock in a mechanical object.

If it designed to lift the bonnet then it is a "bonnet lifter"

(I did think of a joke to follow that, but it might get me banned!!)

After all, we don't call the ones on the rear hatch that; they are "struts".

Is it that difficult to unclip a metal pole and stick it in a hole?

No worries, been there, done that several times myself :giggle:

It is, but the strange thing is, when you have owned a car which has one of these its one of those things you miss when you go back to a car without them!

I know what you mean. My Octy had a few handy cubbyholes that I miss on the Yeti.

Problem is that over the years, you "collect" a list of desirable features from the various vehicles you have owned - it's damn near impossible to get all of them incorporated in the next car.

Totally agree with this.

Was fascinated with it and showed all and sundry and wondered why all cars did not have this wonderful piece of kit to make everyones lives as easy as mine. :giggle:

After all, I was (and still am) driving an 03 Polo.

How disappointed was I when I found out I would have to go back to using this thin piece of metal to hold up a bonnet.

Besides, would you want to go back to winding your own windows after only pressing a button for years.

Dom.

Winding windows???

Can tell you've never owned a Series Land Rover!! :giggle:

I assume the final line is euphemistic? Well done for getting it past the censors

Thank you, thank you, thank you! When I got to the age of thirty I cried :'( . It had been my lifelong ambition to be a 'toy boy' and I realised I wasn't going to make it. I thought about going for counselling  , but in the end I sat down and reassessed my options, and decided on a new career plan :p . I would instead seek to become a 'dirty old man' (hence my avatar; "Girls, feck, drink, feck, girls.) It is so nice to be confirmed and validated by my peers
