Rolling Road results from today at JKM

Featured Replies

I feel the same about the 110, apart from the chassis changes.

Chassis changes; what are they? Do you mean 2WD only?

The 110 4x4 has smaller front brakes and a different gearbox, otherwise identical bar software to the 140.

With the two 110's the 2wd obviously has a 5 speed box, smaller rear brakes and again different software; produces 30 N/m less torque than the 4x4.

TP

AMD said mine was 154bhp so I wouldnt take it too seriously......I trust JKM s rollers 100%

I'd trust JKM 100% too from past experience.

How did you get on with the rolling road being a 4x4 or is your CR110 a 2WD?

As TP states the brakes, gearbox and I would have thought the springs and maybe the dampers as well as my DSG is heavier than a 110 2WD or even a 4x4.

Mine is 2WD .....I also trust JKM's rollers 100%

Interesting - I thought it was only the 170 that differed in brakes (with the 110 and 140 sharing specs)... so all (2.0) diesels have different brake specs then?

Yes, the diesels vary as do the petrols; 280mm on the 1.2 and 288mm on the 1.8 iirc. Seems a bit daft to me as I'd think it would be almost as cheap just to buy in the larger part and fit them to both models. The 170tdi is the only one to get the 312mm vrs/gti sized disks as standard.

Full details of Yeti brakes are given here http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/149047-yeti-brake-disc-size-guide/ in the Gospel according to The Plumber :giggle:

Correct that the CR170 is the only Yeti to get 312mm front discs with the CR140 DSG and 1.8TSI having to make do with 288mm front discs when they should have 312mm IMHO.

Weird that the 1.8TSI doesn't get them as well, in my view. CR140 I can sort of understand, especially given precedent from the Octy2 say.

Not that difficult an upgrade to sort, but yes - would be nice to have one less item on the to-do list ;)

Yes; it is simple to do. You just need different Calliper Carriers and 312mm Discs as the Callipers and Pads are common.

I know; I've done it! ;)

The 1.8TSi is underbraked as standard - I disagree with the majority of 1.8TSi owners on this one on Briskoda though! When the car is fully laden and you need to bring the speed down, especially from three figure speeds, I just dont think they are up to it. Having said that, they seem to have good and bad days - but I know that makes no sense technically! The pedal feel also isnt great. Too much happens at the top of the pedal travel and then not enough when you really need to lean on them imo. A bigger upgrade is imminent for me, hopefully before I hit the Autobahns again in August.

With all this quest for power, handling, braking etc., I guess I am at a loss why people don't start out with the 170 CR to begin with? Also as TP has demonstrated, it IS possible to order it with the more suitable 16" wheels as well.

I personally do not see any need for more power than came with the original, as it is hard enough to stay within the limits as it is - the beastie has a terrible habit of just creeping up the scale without you noticing it. Fuel economy is also better than any of the others, except the 110 CR.

I agree 100% with that statement.

When you really need to stop, there just seems to be no power

Though i have the 2wd 1.2, we share the same brake setup.

My problem is that i like the stock 16'' wheels and do not want to change them, so i cant really upgrade to anything bigger :'(

You can 16s on the Yeti with the 312mm brakes surely? Least you can on a Fabia and Octavia, so I see no reason why not on the Yeti.

Yes you can; or how else will a CR170 Yeti use its spare wheel or winter wheels.

Solution is to use, as I did on my Octavia vRS, aftermarket upgrades brake pads e.g. EBC, Ferodo or Mintex. Actually cheaper than trying to fit larger discs.

.... or do both?

Yes you can run 16" wheels with 312 discs; or how else will a CR170 Yeti run a spare wheel or winter wheels?

That's a question to fire back to the original user asking the question, not me!

I was attempting to answer it as well....

I agree; I had a glitch in making the post ...

No probs, just checking ;)

Well i am happy to hear that.

Question is where can i get a pre-owned set of 312mm discs and carriers?.

Yeti 170 CR Ambition with standard 16" alloys have the 312 mm large brakes in front - straight out of the box!
