Fabia vRS Battery

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Was away for work the past two days, went to start the car in the morning where I was staying and the battery was flat.

Had to call the RAC out as it was my only option. The chap tested the old battery and one of the cells had gone, I agreed to have a new battery fitted and that due to me being away with work, I could not use the original one as it would fail to start the car next time I needed to.

Now I am home, I have had more chance to look into things. He has fitted one of these http://www.boschbatteries.com/bosch-s4/s4005-027-bosch-silver-car-battery-12v-60ah-31-1-71.php however a quick look on Eurocarparts suggests that this battery should be fitted to my car http://www.boschbatteries.com/bosch-s4/s4007-100-bosch-silver-car-battery-12v-72ah-32-1-57.php

If I am paying £100 for something on the spot, I at least want it to be the right damn one!

Am I worrying about nothing? It's just the battery that they have supplied me seems a little small for a diesel IMO, it may work fine for now, but the last thing I want is to come to winter time, and I am left with a car that struggles to start when I have important work to do.

Thanks

Just had a look at the original battery (I asked to keep it) was also an Akuma - however mine was 70ah, and 570CCA.

Its the cold cranking that I am more concerned with TBH.

Also, RAC only give you a 3 year guarantee, yet if you buy the battery from elsewhere you get the manufacturers 4 years :o

Yup, the higher the cold crank amps the better, especially if you do a lot of start stop driving. Phone the RAC and tell them they have fitted the wrong battery, and ask if they will come out and fit the right one?

I think that's probably the best option, I'll let you know how I get on!

I fitted a Bosch Silver HSB096 780A 77AH battery which comes with a 5 year replacement guarantee. The original AKUMA battery it replaced was all of 340A 70AH!

Result - they are coming to change the battery for the 72ah Bosch battery, no fuss. They have also given an £80 discount on the renewal too for the hassle. Happy man

Good news! :)
