VRS: H&R 45-50mm

Featured Replies

Hi all. I've just ordered the H&R 45-50mm springs from Awesome. How low do these actually sit? I wanted something that sits fairly low but can also clear speeds bumps too. Does anybody have pictures with these springs on as I can't find any.

Thanks, Dave

I would take a stab at this and say the car will sit between 45-50mm lower than standard!! :giggle:

Seriously though, I think the height will look awesome when they are fitted, but you are going to struggle with clearance big time, mine is lowered 30mm and I have clearance issues on the odd occassion....... :S

Lol smart arse haha :p do you have any pictures of yours do I can get a rough idea how low it's gonna be

Any excuse.....

This picture was taken literally 10 minutes after fitting, they have settled a lot since then, give me 10 minutes and I will photoshop a -50 mm ride height for you.

That's actually alrite! I may have to ring up again n change for 35mm lol, I'll wait and see the photoshop first though

Standard:

Approx -45mm

It does look 100% better at this height and I would definitely do it but clearance will be tragic! :(

It does look smart at that height cheers bud :) looks like I'm gonna have to take chances on the clearence and see how I get on. If they annoy me too much I'll have to order a set of 35mm ones

If the option is available I would look in to coil overs, then you can adjust to suit.

At -45 you'll hit speed bumps, at -50 it'll be worse, and that's before you fill up your boot and push it even lower :o

Here's mine at -45:

.. it didn't stay that low for long. Its now running at -36mm or thereabouts which still looks nice and low but is fine for day-to-day and still just about ok when its fully loaded:

That bottom picture is how I want mine to sit, is that at -36 in that picture?

Yes.

:-)

The -45 is the drop from a standard height octavia, it will not drop a Vrs that much

Ah right! I have been thinking about this. I'm just praying its not too low. Unusual for me to say that as my Astra turbo is on coilovers nearly touching the floor lol

oops, yes if that's the case then it won't be as low. IIRC the vrs is already 15mm lower than a "regular" octavia which would mean a "45-50" spring will drop a vrs more like 30-35mm, so not too far off the way mine is sitting in that second pic.

That will do me nicely if it sits like that :)

let us know how the ride is vs Standard please!

Well got it lowered on saturday and im actually quite pleased with, can get over speed bumps and ride height isn't too bad, still have to settle a little yet too but heres some pictures after lowering and a 5 hour cleaning session lol

P E R F E C T !!!!

Looks excellent, very shiney!

Whats the ride comfort like?

and what have you done to your grille surround, it looks like you've wrapped it in gun smoked film, looks lovely!

The ride is still great! I'm a coilover person but coz i love going low but you loose ride quality. I dont want to loose the ride quality on the VRS as i want something nice and sensible.

Pagey i aint done anything to the surround mate, its still chrome, must be the light on the picture.

that's sitting very nicely with h&r 45-50mm springs :)

point taken, so in future when its time to drop some, i'll favor this setup.

that looks really good, black shiny wheels really work well to.

Lovely motor mate and nice drop on that suspension

Thanks guys :) the colour on the wheels is actually Vauxhall anthracite, same colour off the old cavalier sri 130. Is s nice colour when you see it properly
