  • would it be able to fit in without sawing off part of the cage or is it simply impossible in order to get a flush finish?

  • Ben90 - Where are you making this offer? I checked on eBay and the listing has ended?

  • Yes mate it will switch on and off by ignition like the old symphony xD. Gps maps go on SD card and go i the left front slot and there is a second SD slot for tunes ect. They will supply you a link

It is the plastic oem cage that needs cutting. Took me 5 mins with a hack saw blade. The plastic key tray pulls out easy. I had one issue, I tried to get the stereo removal keys myself and was told by Skoda they don't sell them anymore but if I would take it to them they would pop it out for me free of charge which they did!. I am sure they sell the removal keys on Ebay anyhow. Once that bit was cut out the new unit clicked in perfectly, only way to remove it would be with four keys!.

Relegated to the garage but i am up for offers for the old symphony. Perfect working order!.

I could not push it far enough back to click home without cutting that piece out. It is only a plastic cage that you could replace easily if necessary it's not part of the dash itself, I could even glue back the bit i hacked out if i really wanted too lol.

If it's not to much trouble, and you can be bothered (it's ok if not).. could ya take a quick snap of it from the side so we can see how much it protrudes? :)

And do you know if it'll use the OEM changer? Does it have the connection on the back?

The OEM stereos are able to be removed using keys available cheaply from Halford/t'internet. PM me if you wish to know which ones :)

Looks flush to me, nice looking unit

Matt

It says there's iPod/Phone functionality with it too, have you tried this or does it only stream to it with the blue tooth?

The Black Skoda one looks fantastic but an extra £50 outlay :(

Cutting the cage is required when installing a double din unit to no ill effects

I may buy one of these

Sorry I don't want to remove it now its snug, being silver it's quite easy to mark, the seller will tell you the dimensions though. Ask for Rob, he is a nice guy. I still need to take some snaps of it at night looks real nice. It has connecters for a changer on the back. there are two types the dearer unit has DVB_T the other which i have only has analog TV. It has a nice 12 band graphic equalizer(took me a little while to find) and you dont really need a changer as you can put lots of tunes on a SD card and play them off that saving laser usage. The first screen of Lister is running from the SD card!.

The OEM stereos are easily removed using a junior hacksaw blade snapped in half to form the 2 pieces required. B)

I'm pretty sure an old credit card cut up would do the job.

  • 1 year later...

Just had a look at those links and it would appear the seller is no longer selling them. Do you know the make and model so I can search for it.

I will try to find you the details or a link m8. It is still working nicely I even manged to get it flusher at the bottom as in the photos it was not clicked in properly. Its clicked fully home now and looks oem. Try searching for polo double did as this was ment for a polo. Says welcome to vw when I switch it on but I remember there where skoda ones too. Only downside I find is its a bit of a dust magnet.

This is the same unit but in black but without the gold heat plateing. Silver facia ones are rare though. Btw that one will have updated firmware. Hope this helps. IceBox auto that's the place. I might contact them about a firmware upgrade :).

LOL - I were using Tapatalk for the Tablet - I choose a smiley which symbolized a sad / Disappointed face. Now I am on the PC I don't see the smiley just wacko! lol - Sorry dude.

Any luck with the model and make yet?

Nice find Rapture, this unit looks awesome! So many features and it looks OE. Few questions if I may. Does it switch on and off with the canbus or does it have to be switched off manually? I notice the only include the maps when you pay full price. I'm considering making an offer for 250 as well. Did you have to pay for the maps separately? I assume the maps are then loaded on to a card and fitted into the GPS slot on the front?

Cheers.

I looked at the seller's other items and clicked on one for the Polo. I've not made an offer yet, probably next payday.

Edit: Rapture's post #41 links to an active auction.
