Well, I cleaned the car this weekend and then decided to have a go at removing the rear badges from the octy. It all went well apart from I have now been left with the outline of the badges.

I have tried to polish the marks of but no luck, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Its not that noticeable from a distance but I really want to get rid of it.

03 Reg -> 8yo car -> paint slightly faded everywhere except under the badges. You might be able to blend the outlines a bit by claying and then polishing.

If it's the sticky stuff, I used white spirit and then gave it a good wash and polish. It's been fine since and I did that about four years ago.

worse case scenrario is some pig has painted it and left the badges on...

It definitely not the sticky stuff I got all that off with autoglym intensive tar remover.

Im really really hoping this is not the case, is there anything else that could have caused it?

thanks for the advice so far.

Is that similar to autoglym paint renovator, as I have already tried that and didn't have much success although I did only polish by hand as I dont have a machine polisher or any experience using one.

do the outline bits feel raised?

From reading the above my money's on it having been laquered over :-(

Yeah it does a bit. Thats what I didnt want to hear. Is there much that can be done about it. I really hope your wrong and it hasn't been lacquered over.

I had a smillar problem with my red vrs when i tryed removing my badge and bump strips, i was left with a outline like that and i couldn't get rid of it at all tryed everything but i was still left with the ouline of the octavia badge. I ended up puting a new one back on.

I had a similar problem but i got valeter at work to go over it with buffer and compound and it just about sorted it,

If you carnt sort it then a mobile touch up bloke might be able to knock laquer back and buff it out,

Pick up some G3 cutting compound but be carefull how you go, that should sort it but if not you may need to refit the badge.

I used some WD40 on mine :giggle: worked a treat

Is the G3 cutting compound much more aggressive than the autoglym paint restorer? whats the best way to use it as to not damage the paint further? and finally where is the best place to get it? Sorry for all the questions.

I have used autoglym intensive tar remover to take off all the sticky stuff I think the marks are in the paint.

I got the badges from Pasty Boy on here, there great can't recommend them enough.

I removed a load of tar using WD40 - you can't beat it.

Don't think that WD40 will do it to be honest.
