I like to think...no I 'hope' to think for my own sanity... that you ordered something someone has recently cancelled and picked up the order - lucky get.

Welcome  what options did you go for? if it was me i have the car at the end of july they are so much fun to drive

put up some pics when you get it

Pretty sure under the terms of the VAT offer the car has to be registered within 10 days of being in the UK? So... no 61 plate for you :)

That's how i understand it too. My dealer said they cold hang on to the car for me, but it HAD to be registered within 10 days of delivery.

Plus the fact do you really want the dealer thrashing it about up the chippy every lunchtime. They don't zero that odometer until you're ready to collect...

That is correct the car has got to be registered within 10days, however my dealer asked me when I would like and she said that is fine, so I presume it will be held by skoda or the build date put back abit, so hello 61 plate

Iv gone for rallye green, black roof and black wheels and as im only 20 funds are tight hence no other options haha!! Seems strange Skoda are holding cars back to get them registered as a 61 plate... Car is built, car is shipped, car is registered with DVLA under the terms of the VAT offer? Otherwise everyone would ask for the same and they'd just have a massive back log of cars lol... They're probably just saying when would you like to pick the car up, not when would you like it built lol

Nice options they look very good in green with black wheels & roof  i can not see you having a 61 plate

Well originally I didn't want the car until October anyway, so the dealer rang me and asked when I wanted and I said I was happy to receive from 1st of September for new reg and they said that's fine you'll see your car 1st September for new reg :/, I don't know the ins and outs all I know is I was old I will have my fabia delivered on the new plates

Thats dead strange.. I want my car now tbh, whether its an 11 plate or 61 im not all that bothered, its still a 2011 car.

For the sake of a month I'm going to wait, and yes but I made it very clear on the phone I didn't want it until the new plates, so when I receive I will post pictures up and specifically what plate it comes on ha!!

I think you will probably find they'll keep it at the docks as its not technically in the UK (its 10 days thing starts from when its at dealers iirc?) until new plates are ready, personally I think that's a stupid idea for the sake of a month but hey ho :giggle:

I don't see the fuss of having a car that's a 61 or a 11 plate.

As adam says, it's still 2011- and that's what counts.

Plus I'd want my car NOW (Hence I bought a 4 month old 2nd hand one instead!)

The reason why I'm waiting is because 1) it is only 4 weeks between end of July and start of September, 2) I'll have a brand new scirocco to run about in from start of July, 3) if I get an 11 plate it will be new for 4 weeks whereas if I get a 61 plate it will be new for 6 months :D plus the misses has a 11 plate so obviously gotta to be better than her

  • Author

Oh and number 4) I was will to wait until November for my car so it's coming 2 months early so can't complain if I can wait 4 months as originally planned then I can wait the extra 4 weeks

4 weeks of the best month of the year, though. Why slum it in a Scirocco when you could have your vRS?

Haha well yeah I know don't like downgrading to vw but oh well I'll out up with it haha and everyone complaining about delivery on vrs's well my mum ordered that in September and it's been delivered in July :o 10 months she waited and been seriously messed about!!!

100% prefer a 61 plate than a 11 its newer

I have bought my 11 plate already which spells my name... wouldnt get that with a 61 plate. Even if the car was a few weeks late and into the realms of 61 - i'd still be using the 11 plate. No plate snobbery here. B)

They're both 2011 cars

Might as well wait for a 12 plate with that thinking.

Or a 62...

Not really though is it...just be nice to have new plates for 6 months than 'older plates' that are new for 4 weeks

It's still a 2011 car mate regardless of what the plate has on it lol :) I'm just pleased ill have mine soon, not waiting any longer just to have 61
