Roomster tow bar

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a Skoda detachable tow bar fitted, which apparently needs a large bumper cut-out. Is the flap that covers the hole when no bar is being used a separate item, I can't see how the original cut out would fit back in?

You'll need to buy the kit from Skoda to cover this hole.

It's not expensive (from memory about 15 quid - but don't quote me)

There is a frame which secures behind the bumper (out of sight) and a new cover piece (with securing lugs moulded into it)which clips into the frame.

It all ends up very neat in the end but of course you'll need to spray the cover to match your car as it is supplied unfinished.

The frame is glued inside the bumper and needs a strong adhesive - Sikkaflex for example.

Once you get the bumper skin off you'll see an embossed guideline on the inner surface showing exactly where the hole needs to be cut. I believe they even do a special tool for "stamping-out" the waste material, but I managed fine with a battery drill and a hacksaw blade.

Good luck.

Very helpful, thanks for that, just what I needed to know.
