Fabia VRS Remapped and dropped!

Featured Replies

I got up early this morning and made the 100 mile trip to Jabbasport. Plenty of traffic and snow!

Anyway, after about 6 hours, I was presented with my 'new' car - now complete with eibach springs and dampers as well as a 191bhp remap... and I'm very impressed with the results!

The car now corners much better - there is much less body roll, yet to my suprise, the ride comfort is still very good! I was expecting some crashing and harshness, but it gobbles up bumps nearly as well as standard! Very good mod... The car also looks the business following the 25mm drop.

The remap has also completely changed the character of the car. It really loves to rev now... Whereas I would have previously made overtaking manouvers at 50mph in 4th gear, I now use 3rd - the response is amazing. The car just picks up and goes like stink! 4th gear is also very handy above 60mph. It flies all the way to 90mph and on to 110mph! The limited traction in the icy conditions today means that I haven't been able to test out 1st/2nd gear acceleration, but no doubt it will be swift (as long as the power gets onto the road).

There are the usual vibrations from the dual mass flywheel below 2000rpm when pressing on, but it is easy to get around this by being careful with the throttle until 2k or alternatively, dropping a cog and letting it go!

Fuel consumption still seems as it was though. I'm sure a B-road blast would drop mpg, but on the motorway, I was still averaging about 56mpg (on the car readout).

Like I said, I'm very happy with the work Jabba have done... I also went out for a spin in a remapped Leon Cupra R (265bhp) and that was top as well! Good work mike, james etc.

My dyno plot is attached below... have a look and see what you think! Note that the car was producing 152.9bhp before the remap! That will be the cupra intake, green filter and milltek exhaust doing their stuff...

Sweet!

And you're right about straight line comfort of eibach springs and dampers. :D Its like having it normal... but lower. :)

Good to hear your pleased

I wish you hadn't of posted it though... Being as I cant get mine remapped for a little while :(

Doh!!!! :thumbdwn:

Oh well, 150bhp standard is pretty good all the same... ;)

Not bad at all. I will be making another trip to Jabba once I get a new clutch. Needs a bit of tweeking I feel. :D

Nice one. :)

Another healthy Jabba'd vRS!!

Top banana! :D

Sounds good. Cant wait to get mine chipped now :D

Wanna get some Eibach's on mine then the Milltek, once that's on i'll be leaving it alone, I could keep modding this car all year I enjoy it that much :)

Right if i hear one more mention of Eibach's, Milltek's and Jabba's i am off!

It's unfair, I saved so hard to have all of this done on one long weekend, but ruddy insurance

That is a very ambiguous thread title! But nice to see we have another Jabba convert.

Eibach's first, then the Milltek, not sure I need to go back to Jabba for retuning ??

Well, I may have some good value eibach dampers soon. ;) A good offer secures them and the TDI springs, so I can go ahead with the coilovers plan. :D

Think yourself lucky... how old are you? I probably had something crap like a 1.0 or 1.4 Micra at your age ;) Could be worse mate!

19...

Yeah your right better look on the bright side :D

nice figures!! How did you get 150 in standard form? I think mine was only 140 (but that was on cheap diesel and a very very dirty airfilter)

Dont forget to post a review :D

I've been looking at a lot of these power graphs and it seems that lots of power figures are posted as CV. Someone has already done this thread, but CV is European measurement for power, but it is slightly less than an HP reading. Power isn't everything, of course, but it could explain how some cars are showing more standard (although standard with modified filter, intake and exhaust isn't that standard)...

Also, on these runs, you see tope speeds in km/h. Using standard sums, these cars are all showing around 140mph - albeit without taking wind and road resistance into account from a real road test...

JUST some Humble Opinions, you understand!

Alright Dave - sounds like the car's had a few (more) mods then! Top notch!

Any luck with selling your wheels yet?

A rather loose comment from me there... when I say standard, I clearly meant on the standard map! ;)

All this snow and ice means that I can't really test it out yet though.... doh!!!

Drop me a PM on what you're looking for them. Do you know if this kit will fit the MK4 Ibiza?

Good results Dave! Bet it flies.

Remap transforms the car.:)

It does indeed transform the car, but unfortunately, the snow has transformed my driving too.... can't really test the engine let alone the suspension at the moment!

By the way Matt, when we met you mentioned that you were wary of lowering your car as it would make it uncomfortable. Seriously, the eibach set is great! Very nearly as comfortable as before and not at all waring on long journeys. Recommended...

You'll be able to power through the gears without moving
