Well ive had some trouble with my door lock so orderd a new one from Skoda for £65, After a 3 week wait its the wrong lock and doesnt fit my car and they dont have a key for it.

so i've decided to take my old door lock apart and see if i can make 1 good lock with the two i have, so ive stripped the whole door down and im left with just the door handle on which i cant get off.

So, how do you remove the door handle?

i can see theres a rubber bung with a torx screw inside but doesnt seem to turn very much because it has like a bronze cover covering it at both sides, If anyone could tell me how to remove the door handle, let me know, thanks.

Well i only noticed the problem when sombody broke into my car, but i suspect its been like it has for a while.

I removed the lock and noticed 6 of the 8 pins in the lock were seized in place and wouldnt move, which is why i could open my car door with my house key...

anyway, i knocked all the pins out with a screwdriver and hammer, cleaned them all up with wd40 and some light sandpaper, which made them all nice and free, but the problem want over.

I put the lock together but it still opend with just about anything! i compared it with my new lock id bought from the stealers and noticed the metal slide bit that goes over the lock pins had a peice of metal missing, meaning the whole barrel was just turning.

i took both locks to bits and used as much of the new lock as i could on my old one, built it up in the door handle..... and its fixed!

well sort of, the spring seems to be in wrong and im not sure how its ment to go but it'll do for now, if you know how the springs ment to go or have a diagram that would be handy.

Thanks for posting the link to the workshop manual. Are there any other workshop manuals for the Skoda Fabia? Or is this the complete manual covering all components throughout the entire vehicle?
