Fabia Aircon problem

Featured Replies

Hey there, I have just bought myself a Skoda Fabia and the air con doesn't work

We thought it might just need regassing but I ran vagcom on it and the compressor load didn't change from 0% when I put the a/c on.

Could there be a fault with it?

If it is low on gas the pressure switch will stop the compressor changing load anyhow, there are many things it could be. Needs inspecting with proper equipment.

Hey thanks for the reply. It said something about 8.6 bar, I'm assuming that's how much pressure there is in the system?

No fault codes?

Parents recently stopped working and it was the evap temperature sensor that had gone, but it threw up a fault code. There's a guide on here how to replace it if it is that.

Mine was the evap temp sensor, about £45 for the part I think. Common fault it would seem, I took a punt on it and it paid off. But I did need to have the system regassed too.

About £20 for the part :)

I deffo paid circo £45 2 years ago for it... That's my own fault for going through the stealers!

Must have just decreased in price then. Got mine from the dealers last week for £19 I think it was (with 5%? discount though)

I don't think there are any fault codes. I'm a bit new to using vag com so not totally sure how it works. I went into the module where it provides the pressure information and the load etc and there was no fault codes on it.

Though I have read that if the gas is low then the pressure switch stops the compressor coming in. Is 8bar low or normal?

Thanks

Pressure limits are 2 bar to 40 bar before system stops working. will see if I can find optimal pressure.

Edit: 25 to 40 PSI after 10 minutes running. So 8 bar is 116 PSI which seems very high, but not 100% sure.

Time for a visit to an aircon specialist I think.

Thank you. Do you think Kwik Fit might be able to help? Because they say if they can't get it cooler then you don't pay. Then if it doesn't need regassing they might be able to help where the problem lies?

Kwik Fit can only regas a system, no proper aircon engineers to be found within  You do get a print out of the weight of the gas extracted though.

The person I bought it off said it needed re-gassing but after reading the information on here, I'm wondering if it's something else. How would I go about locating an air con specialist?

Skoda dealers have aircon trained techs, try yellow pages for independent specialists in your area.

quick update, it was an incorrectly coded ECU that was the problem.thankfully I worked it out from the info on here and didn't cost me anything. Thanks Briskoda :D
