Symphony Radio and 6CD Changer retro fit vRS

Featured Replies

I'm looking to buy and retro fit the standard Octavias Symphony Tape Radio with the 6 Disc changer into my vRS mk1.

The one I'm looking at on eBay has no cables included just the Single din radio and the CD changer.

What would be required to fit this? Are the cables all still in the vRS just not used/hidden or will I have to buy somehthing extra?

You may be lucky and have a cable....You could get an indash Cd changer though which is better as it buffers the tracks when it changes CD's so there is a seamless disc change instead of a long silence whilst it changes discs.

Have you thought about an MFD 1? I have one in the Bora and the sound quality is much better than the standard Gamma that was in there before.

I cant find mfds for sale anymore had a bid on one and lost :(

What is in there at the moment then? I though the symphony tape head unit and 6 disc changer were standard in the mk1 vRS?

I have a VW MFD1 in my Octy Vrs and was impressed with sound quality compared to standard unit. Now have a genuine Skoda MFD1 coming (probably outbid matey above :giggle: ). So old one not sure what to do with yet, as I converted the backlighting leds on the controls to green but they are superbright leds so a bit bright. Others think it looks cool?

Best way to look IMHO is if the CD changer fittings should be on the left side of the boot, if there not there then there isnt the cables. To check if you have the cables its a simple as looking behind the lefthand carpet, there should be three plugs there (pink yellow and green if i remember) and one of them is for the CD changer.

The symphony tape player and changer were standard on the vrs. What do you have in there at the minute?

i got a old headunit and 6 cd box for boot and all mountings i can not be bothered to remove the cable so have a look under ther carpet behind ps rear wheel doubt its been taken out as it runs along with the car electrical cables for lights etc... [email protected] if you want the headunit
