SEAT MFD unit

Featured Replies

Hello all, bought a Seat MFD unit from ebay and have a couple of questions, I know some people on here have Skoda and VW types.

Firstly the fitting, is it as simple as removing the old HU and key tray, wiring in the plug and play and GPS antenna then just slotting the unit in or is some modification needed to the aperture.

Secondly I have read a few older threads about these units and people have needed VAG-COM to get the unit to work correctly, is this the case every time or could I be lucky and get it working straight away.

Thanks for any advice.

Phil.

It should be just plug and play. I fitted mine and took less than 10 min.

There is a install guide i can dig out somewhere

It is a case of removing old head unit, remove glove box to install GPS antenna behind it, fit SAT NAV, connect up the wires from the SAT NAV to your existing loom and the GPS antenna. Switch on, Enter the radio code, install Map disc, wait for unit to find itself and off you go.

Install guide here:

Only issue is getting it to sit flush due to excess of wiring. Not uncommon to have to cut a piece of plastic out at the rear of the din recess.

Vag com shouldn't be needed. 4 figure mfd security code is essential (or £40-50 to get decoded)

Just gave it a google. Looks pretty cool! Shame it is so pricey. is there any replica units (not chinese) that do the same functions?

Thanks for the replies, looks pretty simple, not looking forward to removing the trim from around the centre console though usually

me + trim removal = disaster  . The seller said it will come with the code so should be ok.

Unit arrived at weekend, fitted it no problems, thanks again for pointers

I am amazed at the difference in sound quality I get with the MFD, I can now actually play my music without distortion when I turn it up and the sat nav is't too bad either, well worth the money
