Octy 2 Autoscan VCSD

Featured Replies

OK this one has me stumped. My VCDS works fine when auto scanning my Fabia VRS SE (2007 plate), either using the PC in my garage or my Dell Latitude D620 Laptop.

However, if I try to scan my mates Octavia II (56 Plate), VCDS will only autoscan if we use VCDS on the desktop PC in my garage, if we use the laptop, VCDS tries to scan the car, and then reports "Function not supported by controller." We can manually go into engine 01 and then check fault codes, but cannot access other items such as steering wheel, or comfort module. We get the same error if we use the octy2 1Z selection listing, or use auto detect.

VCDS lead is genuine Ross Tech purchased from Gendan. Both computers are running the latest version of VCDS, and both are running Windows XP Pro SP3

Desktop PC is an Advent P4 3.8 GHZ

Laptop is Dell Latitude D620

VCDS lead is USB type Hex+Can

Have tried different USB port etc, but no joy.

Has anyone seen a similar problem? Any help appreciated.

Make sure the laptop is on maximum performance. Partial or adaptive power modes are badly supported on some laptops. If you are using Microsoft drivers, then try using the Dell ones.
