MOT Advisory Missing Now Im Worried

Featured Replies

Hi all i know there are a lot of posts about garages with holding advisories now. i brought a fabia in feb this year. had an mot done in may and didn't think anything of it.

done a DVLA MOT History and came up with this

Date of test:

11/05/2011

Certificate issued (Pass)

Odometer reading:

61,888 Miles

Test number:

Test station name:

Test station number:

Test station telephone number:

Test class:

IV

Test expiry date:

10/05/2012

Advisory Notice issued

Nearside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)

Offside Front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)

Whole under body corroded and running gear

Now I have had a look underneath but im now expert and there are a couple of little bits of rust on the back box and well its not as bad as my old pug lets put it that way.

am i being worried over nothing?

Sometimes MOT stations forget to clear the advisory history from the previously tested vehicle.

Given that VAG cars are zinc coated and the underseal is as tough as old boots, I wouldn't worry.

Rust is not always obvious when it is covered in underseal, but I imagine if the MOT tester found anything substantial he'd have poked a hole in it :)

and quoted you for £xxx(x?) in potential repairs ;)

I'd be inclined to agree with Moggy's theory.

The fact that its on record immediately makes its resale value potentially much much lower. Take it up with the garage you bought it from to see if they offer either to get the record removed or compensation paid. In any case an inspection by a qualified engineer and written statement and guarantee is the least you should be looking for.
