Re-Chroming Grille

Featured Replies

Hi to all at Briskoda!

Picked up my TDi Elegance today. 2005 and 60k on the clock with FDSH. Had to drive 180 miles home. Car did 60 mpg

I noticed that the chrome grill surround has has some water ingress and has lifted in places along the top. Rather than pay £40od quid for a new one I wonder if I can recover it (not colour code it as I want to keep it OEM). I have seen plenty of Carbon Fibre wrap but can't seem to find any chrome. Anyone got any ideas??

This is the first time I've ever heard of someone wanted to refurb a Chrome grille!!!

You can get one from a scrappy for a tenner or so.

Or even spray it silver, close enough and cheaper. :)

If you got it from a dealer you could chance your arm and see if they replace it for nothing.

Edit: just noticed the 180 mile trip, guessing a 360 mile trip isn't worth it for a grille, even at 60mpg :)

Got it from an independent dealer and did negotiate some discount though. the 180 miles flew by in cruise control....................
