how to take the stereo out - vrs

Featured Replies

Hello

Does anyone know how to take the stereo out.It looks like a factory fitted one with two slots, but I haven't got the tool to remove it.Any ideas? The CD is jumping a bit so I'm gonna clean the lense.

Many thanks

You don't need to take the stereo out to clean the lense. Surely one of those lense cleaning cds will work?

If you really do want to take it out and dismantle it, Kenwood removal tools usually do the job, but if you ask your dealer nicely, they quite often remove it free of charge for you.

Cheers mate.I'll try the cd cleaner first.I was a bit worried cos they look a bit abrasive.I usually take my home cd player apart and clean it manually with a cotton bud,but could be a bit of hassle with a car one

I cut an old credit card into two sticks, each the height of the slot. It just about worked.

Or ice cream carton.....both work!!!! And I prefer to use IPA (isopropale alcohol from Maplins) on a cotton bud and a hoover (on thin nozzle hose) and a small paint brush to get rid of fluff....but use hoover carefully!!! B)

two ground down or otherwise knackered jigsaw blades also work.
