Control System for Exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hoping somebody would be give me some assistance in this matter. On Monday, I was going down up the A19 doing 70mph. The next thing I know, the speed dropped down to about to about 50mph. I managed to pull off the dual carriageway where the car came to a complete stop. I switched the engine off and restarted it. I noticed that the Control System for Exhaust light was flashing. I took it to a generic garage in Durham where they ran diagnostic checks on the car, but couldn't find any fault at all.

One thing I have noticed is that the car doesn't seem to be performing as well as it has been, being a bit sluggish at building up speed. I've also noticed that when stopped at traffic lights, the car does seem to shake, unless I have my foot on the accelerator.

I have it booked in for a check-up at the dealer next week, but for the mean time, I was wondering if anybody on here knew what the problem is with it?

Thank You

Garreth

mine gives a bit of a judder when stationary but I just assumed it was normal

Gather this is a vRS we are talking about. Suspect you've put a bit of crap fuel in it, 180 twincharger is quite sensitive. Ive had the emmissions light appear briefly on ours once but didnt affect the performance, went out after a few seconds and hasnt come o

n again

.....or maybe youve mixed octanes? Dont worry about juddering at idle i think they all do it, have noticed it on ours occasionally

I have had a similar problem before on a previously owned Suzuki Swift Diesel. If it is a Diesel you have it is more than likely something to do with the turbo such as a map sensor. Another thing to check is whether you are able to get the revs up as normal whilst is neutral. When I had my problem the car couldn't get above 3000rpm.

To be fair, i've not noticed this in a while, it could well have been from changing between V-power and Momentum fuels...

Hi,

A big big thankyou for your replies. I was beginning to think has it had some dodgy fuel in it. I did use to fill up at a certain supermarket as it was the cheapest in town, but now I'm wondering is it cheap for a reason! Last week I took it to Shell and has been and it has been performing back to it's usual. I used to fill up with super unleaded about once a month as I heard that it was good to clean your engine.

I am however still going to get it checked out as it still does vibrate at idle. My sister also has a Fabia and I took that for a drive the other night and I have noticed that it doesn't vibrate.
