Replacing a connector in the door module multi-plug

Featured Replies

Quick background story - keyfob has stopped working the drivers door but everything else is fine apart from the little red LED. Using the search on the forums (big thanks to all of you who take the time to post how to do things  ) I have examined the door module multi-plug (car is a '53 Octavia TDi by the way) and found the usual green verdigris has corroded one connector. So it appears the expensive door module itself is ok & all pins are intact and checking the wiring has confirmed that there is power to the multi-plug therefore the fault lies with the crimp of the red / yellow wire to the terminal connector inside the plug.

The multi-plug seems to be an amphenol connector and has two part numbers on it - AMP 969 446 on the outside and AMP 964 820 on the inside part which pushes into the door module.

First of all can someone tell me how to get these connectors apart and secondly is it possible to buy a replacement connector or better still just the individual terminal inside so it can be repaired since it is around £100 for a complete door loom and it would be criminal to replace it as the rest of it is perfectly fine?

Would an auto electrician have access to these parts as I don't imagine the dealer will do a repair? I'm in the Durham / Teesside area so if there are any good sparks around here please let me know?

Regards,

Gary

Sorry Guys, just realised I should have posted this in the Octavia Owners forum doh!

You can buy a repair wire from Skoda. They are 1m long and have a crimp terminal each end.
