Sorry to be off topic and everything is relative but i have very little/no experience in 1/4 mile runs, i did one when i was 17yrs in under 100bhp group took something like 18-19 secs in a 68bhp corsa LOL

but when i attended my Mercedes 190E owners club meet(which was actually a Porsche GB meet that we had been invited to) they where at an airstrip somewhere near seaford. a 50's something old bloke had the same car as my Dad, a Merc 300E-24v sportline. the twin-cam 3.0ltr M104 engine,

remember it's standard car, with standard wheels and suspension, it's 22yrs old and it built like a tank, the engine develops 221bhp standard and in his low mileage example with very little engine work he had it dynoed at 240whp... i was really surprised(especially with standard 205/50/15 tyres on the rear(some random Furio tyre brand) and an open diff) that he managed a 13.9sec 1/4 time. he other two runs where 14.1 and 14.2.

dunno how this really fits in, but the thread just reminded me of the time and kinda puts things in perspective.

also got the other run but this ones alot better

Nice... How is the timer started? What if he went a second earlier? Does it start as you move or when they say go?

yeah it dont matter when you start timed from when you move, for instance i raced a m5gti golf, beat him easily as i got a good start but he still got a second quicker 1/4mile time

Thanks Trevor, loud!

I can just make out the words "******* hell" as I got a 5.67

5.67 0-60 with 201 bhp? im amazed but wd.

My mate has a DriftBox that can accurately measure 0-60mph so I'm trying to borrow it off him to see what times I can get. I too agree that 5.67 seems to be a lot quicker than I expected from a 201bhp Fabia but who can argue with the print out?

more power doesnt mean faster acceleration especially with fwd cars. there comes a point when the car makes too much power and cant get traction of the line.

He got a brilliant start with virtually no wheel spin, that's an awesome time :)

Standard Scooby 0-60 time isn't it? :)

Good job!

Silver one must be standard as its times would suggest that?

Great time mate. Just a quick observation. Comparing your 0-60 to the silver fabia you were around 3.3 second quicker. But at the 1/4 mile time you dropped roughly 1/2 second to him.

Any reason for this? or did you feel bad that you smoked him off the line and let up :giggle:

Stephen

Maybe he caught up :)

He properly has more torque

Sounds about right

I got a 14.4s with a measly 195bhp

Anybody else seen figures like these? Very impressed B)

I've seen much better figures than these at Santa Pod, not by a Diesel Skoda though!
